Ed, sorry but more information / details will be needed to understand what is happening here?

What computer are you using here, is it a laptop, tablet, deskop etc?  What version of Windows?

What Rescue Media are you using, is it CD/DVD or USB stick - what program created this rescue media, what version?  Is this ATIH 2016 build 6571 (latest) or are you using something else?

Some rescue media boot problems are caused by starting the media in the wrong boot mode, this needs to match the method used by your Windows OS.  See webpage: Check if your PC uses UEFI or BIOS

Sorry about replying so late, have been away with work. my computer is self built, gigabyte m/b, amd CPU, windows 10.

Rescue media dvd, Acronis 2016 build 6571, bios UEFI, how do I boot in UEFI.

Regards

Ed

Ed, the method of booting into UEFI will depend on each particular system, but in essence, you need to hit the Boot selection menu on startup - for a lot of systems this can be such as the F12 or F11 key to bring up a boot device menu.  Once you get to see the menu, then look for a entry for your DVD reader with reference to UEFI or EFI.

The alternative approach with Windows 10 is to go into Settings, then Update & Security, then Recovery, then click on Advanced Startup - Restart now button.  This will then give you further options for restarting, which should include starting from DVD - you should have the Acronis Rescue Media DVD inserted into the drive before taking the option.

Steve, the problem is not booting, it boots from the dvd, but when acronis loads the screen, i can not use my usb mouse or keyboard.

What's the computer system hardware, make, model?  Keep in mind that the default Acronis recovery media is Linux based.  Some tablets like the Surface Pro 4 are designed only with Windows in mind and don't have proper Linux drivers.  Even some mainstream laptops and ultrabooks have touchscreens/touchpads that don't have LInux drivers.

In these cases, you can try attaching a USB keyboard/mouse and that usually does the trick.  Alternatively, you can try creating WinPE bootable recovery media instead and see if that helps.  Chances are, if you create WinPE with the latest Windows 10 ADK, default drivers will work for your hardware (but not always 0- even with WinPE, there are isntances where you may have to add drivers).

If you don't mind creating WinPE, downlaod the Windows 10 ADK and install the first 3 options (it's roughly 3.4Gb when you pick the first 3 options to install after it's downloaded).  Once installed, go back and use the Acronis media builder, but pick the WinPE option.
