Recovery fails

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I'm using ATI 2016and made some incremental backups of an encrypted Folder (with Cryptomator). When trying to restore one of the backups a get the following error massage:

Access denied.

You are possibly trying to work with other files or folders when working with ...

and only some files are restored.

When accessing the bckupfiles directly via the file explorer, I can restore the files without any problems.

has someone an idea what may be the problem within ATI?

Alex, welcome to these User Forums.

Quick question: is the folder encrypted when you make the backup of it, or is it fully accessible / unlocked before trying to do the backup?

Acronis cannot normally backup encrypted folders or files, and any backups taken of such files and folders is not guaranteed to be recoverable.

See KB 56619: Acronis True Image: compatibility with BitLocker which deals with a different encryption product but where the pertinent statements are:

You need to unlock the disk (use Suspend protection option for that) before backing up. You cannot back up encrypted disks in Acronis bootable media.

To restore encrypted disks, start your computer with Acronis bootable media and configure a recovery task. You need to reactivate encryption after recovery. You cannot restore encrypted disks using Acronis True Image in Windows.
