Rescue DVD doesn't work

Thread needs solution

Hello,

For precaution I made a rescue DVD with Acronis True Image 2016. It stated the the disk was made succesfully. However my Windows 10 Home system won't startup with the disk. The boot sequence is correct (first my DVD drive and them my ssd). I can see te detection light of DVD-drive comes on when starting, but it dims after a while and my system starts up from my ssd as it normally does.
I've made several cd's and dvd's now, but none will boor up my system...
Don't know where to look now..

You need to change the BIOS boot order from the SSD to boot first via the CD/DVD device.

Hello GroverH,

Thansk for the reply. However, the boot sequence in my BIOS is correct: 1. CD/DVD drive and 2. SSD (=system). Maybe an issue with Windows 10 and ATI2016?

Reboot with the CD and watch the screen during the first 0-10 seconds of bootup.

You may be a message for you to press the space bar to boot the CD and this appears very quickly at start of bootup.

Hello,

I get not messages whatsoever, windows 10 keeps on refusing to startup from the rescue disk. So I guess it's an issue with Windows 10 and ATI2016.

If Secure Boot is enabled in your machine bios it will prevent the Rescue DVD from starting.  Some bios allow for a boot overide as well which can be used to direct boot a selected source which can be used to more or less force boot that source.  Again however Secure Boot needs to be disabled and can be re-enabled after using the DVD app.

Thanks for the hint Enchantech. So it's probably an issue with the strict UEFI Firmware Settings in Windows 10 that prevents booting with another OS.  I'll look into this. For what's is worth I've found a link that describes how to enable/disable the secure boot in Windows 10: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/dn898540(v=vs.85).aspx.
I just wonder why this issue isn't known by Acronis Support and why there are no more reactions from ATI2016/Windows 10 users?
