Restore to different drive

Thread needs solution

Hi. I created a backup of my entire system including an external drive where all my images are stored on a 3 Tb drive.  The external drive failed and I am trying to restore to a different external drive that has other data on it.  When I start the restore procedure I am faced with a message that says the disc will be converted.  I haven't gone past this message because I'm not sure if this process is going to do damage to any of the other data on that drive.

Basically all I want to do is restore the files into a folder I have named Photo Drive 1, while leaving all other data on that existing drive in tact.  I expect the response to the question the software is asking is that I should leave it as is with the MBR option. But I want to make sure that my restore will not affect anything already on that drive.

I hope this isn't too confusing.  Thank you in advance.

Terry, depending on the type of restore (full disk or parition), you could very well be overwriting all of the original content.  Instead, use Windows Explorer to navigate to the backup .tib file on your machine and double click on it. It should open in Windows Explorer like a normal folder.  Then copy and paste your files out fo there and that will the original data on the drive, plus the files from out of the backup.
