Restore an HDD C: drive backup to a new SSD
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium x64, I have Acronis TrueImage 2016 WD Edition_33, I have made the Boot CD.
I want to replace my 500GB hard drive with a 500GB SSD. I have current full backups of the C partition. Can I just remove the HDD and replace it with the SSD, then Restore my latest backup to the SSD?
1. What about alignment, going from a HDD backup to an SSD?
2. I'm assuming after this operation, that the SSD will be bootable?
Thx in advance.

Ok.. The bootCD I made with 2016 is the Linux (top choice) version.
Win 7 was installed in the UEFI mode. ( In the BIOS, Secure boot is enabled and set to Windows UEFI)
As for my 500GB drive and the partitions...
I have NO hidden partitions. I installed Win 7 with NO reserve partition to an MBR formatted drive.

My C:\ partition has everything it needs to boot. I've already tested by making a backup with 2016, and using the bootCD to restore the backup I just made.
So I guess if the BIOS sees the new SSD, then I can use the backup made of the C:\ drive and just plop it onto the SSD.
The I guess the SSD will boot. I read somewhere else on these forums that all Acronis versions since 2014 will take care of the "alignment" automatically, (changing from the HDD's 63 kb block to an SSD's 64 kb block?)
According to what I read on this forum, it will apparently work with the HDD's 63 kb block, but I will suffer some speed issues. Restoring from a HDD backup, to a new SSD will carry with it the HDD's 63 kb block, in Acronis versions before 2014.

My C:\ partition has everything it needs to boot. The rest of DISK 0 is just a large area to save downloads. I've already tested by making a backup with 2016, and using the bootCD to restore the backup I just made.
