Restoring onto a new hard drive?
I got a new Dell dekstop (Windows 10 pre-installed) last week. Everythinbg is working fine. Truimage 2016 version was installed and C-drive was backed up with the True Imge. The dekstop came with a single 1 TB hard disk but no re-installing Windows 10 DVD was included. Now, I am planning to replace the 1 TB HD with a new, NTFS-formatted 2TB HD. If I restore the backup tib onto the 2TB HD with Trueimage-bootable flashdrive, Would Windows 10 be booted up?

Jorge,
If the backup was made using "Disk mode"...full partition list, all boxes checked. Then a restore to a new 2TB hard disk should boot.
Picture below shows full partition list with all boxes checked.
Picture below shows short partition list.

Thanks to Steve Smith and FtrPilot,
As described in the original post, the tib backup file of the original 1 tb HD was restored successfully onto 2 TB disk with True Image 12016. Windows 10 boots without any problem.
As shown in the attached screen capture, the 2tb HD has now 3 big partitions (C,D and E in red) along with 3 minor partitions (x, y and z in blue). My question is how to merge D and E partitions to create one partition. If both Y and z minor partitions are delelted, it will create a single partition by merging D, E, Y and Z. My question is whether windows 10 could be booted up if I delete y and z partitions. Please advise me how to merge D and E partitions. Thank you.

Jorge,
You should not delete partitions y & z...they are part of the Win 10 operating system.
You could use other software to merge the partitions, such a AOMEI partition assistant.
http://www.aomeitech.com/aomei-partition-assistant.html
They offer a free version which works quite well.

Jorge,
You should also backup your data before trying the partition merge, in case something goes wrong.

Hi Steve,
This probably doesn't fit into this Post area but I have been Posting with Bobbo_Cox and dealing with a vexing problem of "cloning" within a multiboot system. As a newbie I really am not clear on everyones use of "cloning" : "mirroring" "imaging". They seem to be used
interchangablely.
I've currently been Posting : Post #2: 116870: Upgrading Multiboot from HDD to SSD and Bobbo (handle difficult for me to remember) and he is going on vacation and he thought a PM to you might be helpful to me.
PROBLEM CONCERNS : Cloning in a Multiboot Environment with Acronis
It might be best to set that up as a separate POST area but I don't know how to do that. I tried a similar post in th 2011 post section with no REPLY
I had built 5 yrs ago a 2 multiboot system almost exactly alike: W7 : + XP1 :+ XP2. The only difference was one of the desktops installed the Sector 0 O/S with a System Reserve. This is
not the desktop in question. Recently just reconfigured them to W7 + W7_2 + XP.
Have Used and licensed ATIH 2011 and DD 10.5. Made 60-70 TIB backups and Restore without a any problems. But when I have attempted the"Clone" option with Acronis Boot Disk. Always have MBR Error# 3 (probably boot.ini) : MBR Error #1. And the machine unbootable.
I'm cloning for "security" reasons in case the HDD goes "south". I have partition backups and
a separate unpowered disconnected of equal size HDD (mechanical) stored in the computer.
Would you have any interest in picking up the info from the other post and helping me along.
Currently: the last option was use the Windows install disk and attempt Boot Manager Repair of the W7 partition which abutts the Sector 0. I was unable to get a CMD prompt but got a
GUI dialog box (System Recovery Options ) which allowed me to fix the boot manager. It appeared to accomplish that. But problem persists. All 3 partitions are working fine and accessible but I must leave the Acronis Repair Boot Disk in the optical in order to boot into the Acronis System selector on the HDD. It's like the old days when you booted from a "floopy".
I now totally understand that Acronis can not "Clone" in Multiboot. So is a "Mirror a clone
that is an exact duplicate, thus it writes the correct Boot Sector code...without "handoff problems". Would "imaging just be the TIB Backup and Restore that I've been using for years. Most info on the site is not in MULTIBOOT so the languange may just be a little looser
as a consequence. I'm asking so I can understand "others" problems and their solutions.
If a PM is possible: Or a New Post section. I'm up for any help that you might provide me.
Thanks so much
Richard

Richard,
You should consider a hardware solution...Kingwin EZ dock 3.
http://www.kingwin.com/storage/docking-stations/ezd-2537u3/
You can purchase from Amazon for $36.72.
http://www.amazon.com/Kingwin-2-5-Inch-3-5-Inch-Clone-EZD-2537U3/dp/B00…
I own one and have used it to clone...although the clone was not a multi boot, their literature list the only restriction is the target drive must be same size or larger than the source drive.

Hi FTR Pilot,
I've not only considered it. I've purchase one and it is in the mail. But I still have the existing problems of the current HDD not being "stable " enought to clone.
Does anyone on the site have any knowledge of Multiboots with Acronis.
Currently my system has W7 + W7-2 + XP in that physical order. The MBR is corrupted and requires fixing. I attempted using the O/S Install disk. It says it corrected the problem. (Could not get the CMD prompt) got a Boot Recovery GUI . So just its option available. Afterwards I attempted the repair additionally thru the Acronis O/S Selector repair function. No help.
I am hoping to move up from mechanical to SSD and also it looks like I must upgrade from ATIH 11 DD 12 to 2016 . I just purchased ATIH 2016 and DD 12. How do I get Acronis
tech support. And does anyone know what tech support will do for me.
They say 30 days tech support. What is the best/easiest way to get a "human" or even Hyderbad. Hyderbad did help me thru an Acronis "hack" problem with an incident change.
I don't mind the charge, I do want the problem resolved so a can consider cloning (really now I'll never clone with Acronis......I hope cloning docking station will wrok.
Thanks for any thought
