Scheduling question

Thread needs solution

After installing Win 10 Anniversary, Norton Ghost went belly-up on one of my 2 desktop PC's.  Too bad, this was a nice program.  I tested NovaBACKUP and EaseUS Todo backup programs as possible replacements, but both had bugs with no work-arounds that I could find.  Then I tested Acronis.  I've only been at it one day, but it seems bullet-proof and is giving me almost all the capabilities I need in a home backup program.  I'll be purchasing 2 licenses later this week.

I say "almost all the capabilities I need", because one of the nice things about Ghost was that I was able to schedule an automatic full backup each morning at 6:30AM and incremental backups at 10:30AM, 2:30PM, and 6:30PM.  I have found acceptable alternatives to this in ATI16, but none which suit my personal schedule as well as the schedule I had under ghost.  I've dug in the manual but not been able to figure out how to schedule backups times to my preference.

So can anyone tell me how to schedule with ATI16 an automatic full backup each morning at 6:30AM and incremental backups at 10:30AM, 2:30PM, and 6:30PM?

Thanks, Bill

Bill, welcome to these user forums.

ATIH 2016 does not allow you to schedule your automatic backup in exactly the way that you are wanting to do, as you had with Norton Ghost, i.e. 4 times per day at set times.

You could do this in an alternative way though if you are prepared to do a little more work to achieve it.

See post: https://forum.acronis.com/forum/38609 in the Best Practices Forum, where a method is detailed for how to create a shortcut to run an Acronis backup task on your desktop.

If you then combine this with the advice at webpage: How to Automatically Run Programs and Set Reminders With the Windows Task Scheduler  you could take the shortcut information and use this with the Windows Task Scheduler to run the same task at your preferred defined times.

Note: To get the task to create a new full backup every day, you will need to configure the backup options to Create a full version after every 3 incremental versions, plus you may need to consider the automatic cleanup options to control how many backup versions you will keep on your backup storage drive.

WOW, thanks for the great reply!  After a little investigation and a lot more experience with ATI, I think your suggestions are probably more trouble than it's worth.  I'll work with the backup scheduler provided with ATI and I'm sure I'll find an acceptable alternative to my old backup schedule.  Actually, I'm fairly close to having it now!
