Second Copy of Windows 10

Thread needs solution

I was thinking the other day that I would like to be able to make a second copy of Windows 10 and as I made the extra copy I wanted to use Acronis to make images at the various stages of the install.  For instance the first image made would be "initial copy with anti virus and so on until I had a good functional and clean version image stored on external drive or cloud.

The part I cannot get past is how to do this with all paths on the spare copy be for the C partition.  It would not be an option you could use if it was like F partition and trying to restore that copy to C Partition.  Windows 10 is working fine now and is on C Partition.  I have a 256 SSD and a 1 terabyte WD partitioned in half ie. Partition E and F.  I do not know of any software that would go through a copy of an operating system and convert all the F:\ to C:\.

Thanks

Gifford,

ATI 2016 will do what you want it to do, but your concept of F:\ to C:\ is incorrect.  What you should do is a Full List disk backup of your 256Gb SSD.  The backup will be unscheduled, using a differential backup scheme.  At each stage of your new Win 10 install, you will perform a differential backup. A restore of that backup would restore the 256Gb SSD exactly like it was when the backup was made.

I have put together some screen grabs on how to do the backups. But I recommend you do a full backup of the 256Gb SSD prior to starting the new install.  That way, you can go back to where you are now, if anything goes wrong with the install.

After you have done your new Win 10 install, installed anti virus and ATI 2016, you can call up ATI 2016 and proceed with the backup as described below.

From the main screen, click on Entire PC. Slide 1.

Then Click On Disks and Partitions. Slide 2.

This brings up backup source in short list. Slide 3.  With your configuration, the list should show all drives that are attached or installed in your computer...select the SSD.

In the lower left corner there is a hot spot titled...full partition list.  Select full partition list. Which then brings up Slide 4. All boxes associated with the SSD should be checked.

Then click OK in the lower right corner...which takes you back to the Main Screen.  You can then rename the backup by clicking on the white text in the upper left corner (second column). Slide 1... After renaming the backup, you can click on Select Destination. Slide 5... I believe you would select  Your External Drive or Browse. You should then be able to select your F: drive as the destination for the backkup. You should probably create a folder for the backup, using Windows Explorer, prior to creating this backup.

Once you have selected the destination, the main screen should come back up. Click on the Options Button...lower left portion of the screen...Slide 6

Next menu is Disk Backup Options...schedule tab. Slide 7.  Click the button next to Do Not Schedule.  Then click on the Backup Scheme tab.

On the Backup Scheme Tab...Slide 8, under Backup Method, select Differential.  Then click on the button next to "Create only Differential versions after the initial full version".

The 3 remaining tabs - Notifications, Exclusions, Advanced, do not need to be changed for this backup.  You may want to look at each tab, but they don't need to be changed...

When done, click on OK, bottom right.

This will take you back to the main screen...you can perform the backup now or click the right arrow and select backup later...you must do one or the other to save the backup.

The first backup will be a full backup...subsequent backups will be differential backups. You should read the user manual which will explain differential backups.
