Segmentation fault

Thread needs solution

Hi,

Unfortunately, I have an issue with booting my tablet with a True Image 2016 USB boot stick:

When I bought the tablet I made an image right away ("factory image").

Then, I installed my stuff upgraded to Windows 10 and realized that the original restore partition became useless due to the upgrade. Therefore, I deleted the partition and merged it to the OS partition. The tablet works fine so far. I made regular backups up to a week ago ("work image").

Now, I bought a second tablet of the same kind and restored the work image onto it by using an Acronis boot stick. It worked well.

However, when I use the Acronis boot stick now I only get to the screen where I can select the image to be restored. Everytime I click it the whole laptop crashes and reports a segmentation fault. This issue applies to both tablets and I have no idea what's going on.

Please help me, because I am basically unable to restore backups now!

Segmentation faults are cases where an application attempts to access an area of memory that is protected.  I see that you are runing Windows 10.  You might try this.  Prior to booting the device to the USB media left click on the Windows start button, mouse over Shutdown or sign out, and select Restart.  As the machine reboots use whatever key combo is necessary to enter the bios or whatever means you use to boot the USB.  See if that changes things.
