Single Version Scheme

Thread needs solution

Hello -

It has been indicated in the True Image software that the single version scheme for backup operates such that a new backup will replace (or overwrite) the previous one. If I  understand a chat response from a support person, in order for this to happen, the target hard drive must have enough capacity to contain both backup files. (For example, if a 2 GB backup file is to be replaced by another 2 GB file, then there must be 2 GB of unused capacity on the drive to contain both files in order for the backup process to proceed.)  If there is not enough total capaicty, the backup will fail.  Is this correct?

Your help and advice would be appreciated.

David, welcome to these user forums.

The simple answer is that your understanding is correct, regardless of the backup scheme you choose, there must always be sufficient space for the version chain plus one further full backup file as Acronis will not delete a previous backup (file or chain) until the next full backup has been created successfully.

If you do not have sufficient free space to be able to satisfy these requirements then you will get an error for out of disk space or similar.
