Slower Win10 Welcome Screen after full disk restore, happens on 3 different machines

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have experienced this 3 times on an ASUS laptop, a Lenovo laptop and an Acer laptop, all with SSDs.

Scenario:
- Laptop has Win10 installed, 2 second wait after putting in creds, Welcome appears then disappears
- Image created using Acronis True Image 2016 Bootable USB, always booted in UEFI - Options "FULL" and "Validate"
- GParted used to delete partitions on the drive, using Device > Create Partition Table > GPT
- Boot into Acronis Bootable USB UEFI
- Select TIB, recover and accept prompts to delete desintation disk drive
- Reimage completes
- When booting into windows, wait time when Welcome appears after putting in creds is 5-10 seconds
- Occurs after multiple reboots...

No driver changes / tweaks inbetween image and reimage of course

As an aside, I tried doing this process without creating a new partition table using GPT and just letting Acronis Bootable wipe the drive, however upon booting in after reimage, it retained drivers and users I had created since the image was made... ?

Acronis 2016 (been using it since back in the day..)

Would appreciate some help.

Andrew, welcome to these user forums.

There are no obvious reasons why your computers should be slightly slower after restoring a backup than they were before doing so, but I would guess there are a number of factors that could influence this.

I am assuming that the backup image(s) you are restoring was taken from the same machine(s) as you are restoring it/them to, but what is the gap in time between making the backup and restoring it? If there is a considerable gap there may be other functions active in your system related to that difference in time, i.e. Windows Update looking for updates, Antivirus looking for new definitions etc.

What are you excluding by default in your backup images, i.e. Acronis defaults to excluding System Volume Information which is where all System Restore points are stored. Do you have system restore enabled in terms of system protection on your system(s) and this may be coming into play too for any immediate updates or changes the OS is making with recreating the SVI folders and creating new restore points?

Are you using Windows Fast Start? If so then check that this is still enabled. Again Acronis defaults to excluding the system hibernation file (hiberfil.sys) (as well as pagefile.sys and swapfile.sys) so these files will need to be recreated.
