So Many Questions - Very Disappointed

Thread needs solution

I'm trying to do backups of drives. When I schedule the backup, the time comes and goes and nothing happens except it  pushes it back a week. I WANT IT NOW. I was able to add a backup with a different name and storage location for do not schedule and it backed up my C drive. I tried the same for my D drive and it said "queued" and never backup.

Next, my system is older and uses drivers for the Raid disks. I can't find how to add them to a WINPE disk.

Next I purchased Disk Director and it only shows my SSD drive and a "MY BOOK drive. My other drives are 4 and 6 TB drives and are GPT drives and are not shown. EaseUS disk Partition shows them.

I have more questions but let's start with these

Oh, one more. I have backups from previous versions of Acronis. They don't show up in the backup menu. Why can't I click on the .tib file and it opens in Acronis?

Jay, please see KB document: 1859: Acronis Scheduler Manager and run the schedmgr.exe utility program to do a get list of all your scheduled tasks, you can then issue a task zap command which will remove all scheduled tasks, these will be added back when you next perform a manual backup or reconfigure your tasks.  This will clear the 'queued' task issue.

Next, if you have an older system, then the latest Windows 10 ADK used by the Acronis Rescue Media builder to create the Windows PE Rescue media should already have the needed drivers for your Raid disks.  If you run the rescue media builder application it will prompt you to download and install any components that are missing.

For the Disk Director question, you may need to raise this in the Acronis Disk Director Forum unless someone else in these user forums can offer help on that question.

Lastly, with regard to support for images created by old versions of Acronis depends on which specific version you are asking about.  See KB document: 1689: Backup Archive Compatibility Across Different Product Versions which has the following table:

Acronis True Image 2016, Acronis True Image Cloud (Release 2016)
on Windows

backups of Windows computers created with:
Acronis True Image 2016, Acronis True Image Cloud (Release 2016)
Acronis True Image 2015
Acronis True Image 2014
True Image 2013 by Acronis

Steve: You were a great help. I followed your instructions re: Acronis Schedule Manager and tried the two backup as scheduled backups and they went through immediately. THANKS FOR THAT. Which brings me to why does this product need so many reinstalls and tweaks like this. One time it works and one time it doesn't. I know you probably don't know, but maybe Acronis monitors these forums and can check this out. Which brings me to support...IT SUCKS. If it weren't for good users like yourself, I would have trashed this long ago.

Let's try another question or two. I didn't follow your response and I'll explain further. I'm using True Image 2016 and have a couple files with .tib extensions that don't show up within the program as backups. I was trying to click on the files and OPEN them but get the error message "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item".  I looked in file associations and
.tib" is not listed nor is there a way to add it. I've also tried dragging and dropping and that doesn't work. These are backups made in the last year so would have been with True Image 2015 or 2016. Can you not open these rogue files in True Image?

Next. I have quite a few backups showing (7) that I won't continue to use but want to archive on a remote drive. Using the above process, I was hoping I could move them to external storage and then if I ever need them I could click on the .tib file and see what was inside. Is there a work around for this? I know I can collapse the listing of backups and they will go away but I want to get them completely out of site.

Next, what is "CLONE Settings" used for?

Next, and finally, for True Image to be of value I need to make a bootable WinPE disk. When I made a BartPE disk, it gave me the option of adding the drivers to the boot CD that are needed for my system. I've read a lot of articles on making a WinPE disk and they talk about adding drivers and variables but don't tell you HOW to add them. When I make a boot disk without them it can't find any of my drives. Can you help with instructions of adding an .inf file and a .sys file that is needed.

Many thnaks

Jay, you should be able to right-click on any supported .tib files and take the TrueImage option then Mount or Validate the image file, alternatively, you should be able to double-click on .tib files in Explorer and explore the contents as you would with a zip file.

If your file associations are incorrect, then try clicking on 'Open with..' and then selecting TrueImage.exe from the C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\ folder and take the further option to always open with this program.

If this doesn't work, then download and install the TimMounter Patch program from https://forum.acronis.com/forum/116874?page=1#comment-374611 as this fixes a problem where some users couldn't open these files using Windows Explorer.

Assuming that you can see the backups on your backup drive in Windows Explorer you can just copy them to your remove drive, then if you don't want to keep them showing in ATIH 2016, take the option to Delete them - this will give you two options, to delete just the settings and leave the files, or delete files & settings.  The choice is yours at this point to which option you choose - you will be able to open the files on the remote drive once the first issue above is resolved.

Clone settings is used to create a new duplicate copy of an existing task that you can then adjust as needed without encountering any problems caused by just changing the existing task.  You should use this option if you wanted to move the backup destination (drive or folder), or make other changes.

The reason for using Clone settings rather than just changing the existing task, is that when you originally created the task, those first settings were stored in the Acronis Database files, but further changes to various settings do not get updated in the database and this can cause some strange problems to arise, such as phantom folders being created for the original destination for the backup.

BartPE was used a long time ago when creating WinPE bootable rescue media, this is no longer needed and the process for creating WinPE is now very straight forward just by following the prompts in the Rescue Media Builder application.  It will guide you to download / install any components that are needed but not found.

With the latest build of ATIH 2016 build 6571 and using Windows 10 ADK you should have 99% of the device drivers that you need without needing to manually add these to the boot media.

If you do need to add further drivers, then please see post: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/100770 in the Best Practices for data protection forum which gives lots of information on this subject.  You will need to use a bootable USB drive to do this.
