Source is not selected. The operation has been terminated

Thread needs solution

Windows 7 64 bit upgraded from 2015 to 2016 now will not backup keep getting error.  Makes no sense.  I backup to external WD harddrive.  Everything is set to default.  Should not be having these problems.  Attached is System Report.  Acronis support stinks.

Just go back into your backup job and navigate back to the drive to set the source and destination again. Windows is notorious for changing USB drive letters which can cause this issue. Or if you're using a different drive or enclosure for it this can happen. Try just updating the source and destination in the backup task and hopefully you'll be back on track..

Christopher, thanks for the Acronis Service Report, this shows that this problem with the source not selected started on September 9th at 16:00 and has log files repeating approximately every 9 minutes since that time for the same error.

The same backup task, CGM Backup ran successfully on September 6th, so did anything change on your system between these two dates?

In particular, did you introduce an encryption product such as BitLocker in this period?

My reason for the above question is that the Disks.txt report shows your C: OS drive as being encrypted.

The strange thing here is that the MSINFO32 report shows the OS drive normally?

The other logs don't really show very much more of interest, so if you are not using an encryption product on your OS drive, you either have encountered a potential encryption virus or have a disk problem with that drive.

Try running a CHKDSK /F /R against your OS drive.

My Bitdefender added a ransomware module around that time.  Only thing i can think of.  As for as encryption software nothing installed.  I will try chkdsk when i leave work today.   I have very important software on this system and need to make sure i have complete backup.  thanks for the help.

That might have done it - I've read in other forums that bitdefender will sometimes randomly enable filevault on disks and/or folders.  Perhaps you can check and see if filevault was turned on?

Christopher, I would certainly check your source drive using CHKDSK given how the disk report shows it as there seems to be an issue there.
