[SUGGESTION] ATIH backup wizard

Thread needs solution

Hi Acronis and fans,

I really would like to get some wizardy back into Acronis. Wizards were awesome popular during the time of Windows 98 and XP and somehow they are playing no or less role in todays applications.

Why I would need a wizard back for ATIH, then?

Well today I ran some tests and so had to create some more jobs than usual.

Current situation:

I am creating a new job, selectin the source and target THEN NOT clicking on start backup but FIRST click on options (it just does not feel intuitive) and browse through all the things I need. Most of all the quite hidden performance section as compression still cannot be adjusted once a job has started (why ever...)

future situation:

I think Acronis is gathering a lot of metadata and so they should have a good idea about which additional options are used often, which are not so popular. It would be great to have a selection of options when creating a job using a wizard.

It would be sufficient enough to ask the user some simple question like :

do you want to save space / time or have weak CPU (yes/no/custom)> adjust compression

do you need a validation of the backup (yes/no)> backup validation

do wish a confirmation email for your backup job

etc etc.

What do you think about reviving the good ol' wizards? I think if they are done properly they can be helpful for new users and also more experienced ones.

Hi Karl,

I think the Wizard idea has a lot of merit.  The Wizard function would serve users better than the simplfied interface and default backup task configuration as a one size fits all easy approach to backup.  Hopefully more users will jump in and give their opinions!

Thanks Enchantech :)
