Synchronization failed

Thread needs solution

working on two PCs (desktop and laptop) I rely on the sync function of Acronis.

Since several weeks there is always the red circle with the white X showing that sync failed. I stopped sync and the restarted it. Immediately afterwards the green sign appears turning soon into the red one. and checking the files to be synced - nothing happened. No error message, no indication about the rason.

Does anybody know what is happening?

thanks for any support

Hell Werner,

Just to be sure, you're using ATIH 2016 and the sync function you are describing is that to the Cloud?  I want to be sure, as I don't see the option in ATIH 2016 to sync between different systems/folders directly anymore and the documenation only seems to point to Cloud Sync with ATIH 2016 as well.

Sync creation

If that is indeed the case, for testing purposes, what happens if you create a new Cloud backup task (a simple, small one that points to a specific test folder with ver little data), and then push that to the Cloud.  Is that successful for the initial push?  If so, what happens when you then attempt to sync that task manually a few more times - also successful, or does it too error out?

I have had some local sync issues where I first my cable mode, then my router, then my PC which cleared up.  Could be a networking issue on any of those devices.  Also, some ISP's cap data downloads and/or uploads after a certain amount (despite offering unlimited plans).  If you've had a busy month in either downloads or uploads, it could be your ISP.

If you've tried the new task as it works, but the existing ones don't, I can't really say what would be causing them to fail to sync.

If the local backup database somehow is corrupted - the suggestion in this forum post may be able to help get your existing backup scrips working again too:

"There are times where backup scripts do get corrupted.  You could try creating a new backup set (keep the old one too but disable it if you want) and see if it behaves better.  A few of us have also had problems with the database being an issue.  There is a word-a-round of disabling the Acronis services (4 of them), renaming,  "C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database" to "C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database.old" or something like that, starting the acronis services and running the backup job again.  This should keep all of your settings and backups in place, but if the database was corrupted, it will force Acronis to make a new one and hopefully resolve the issue (perhaps do that as a last resort though - I have done this a few times in the past with no apparent issues as a result, but you are manually fiddling with the application doing this)."

Werner,

My advanced apologies.  I see the Sync option now in the left hand window.  I would still hope that the earlier recommendation would resolve the issue if it is not an ISP, bandwidth, or other network connectivity issue connecting to the Cloud.  Still try rebooting all of your networked devices and verifying that you are not capped or reduced with your ISP currently as well.  If all of that has been done and checks out and sill cannot sync, you could still try:
