TI2016 Crashes Hard Drive
Folks,
I'm having an issue when running a Non-Stop backup on my data drive. Here's my configuration:
1. Windows 10 x64 Anniversary Addition
2. SSD as the C Drive
3. Normal Hard Drive as the D Drive (Data)
4. Synology DS411 NAS as backup drive
My D drive (Data) holds all of my working files. C Drive only contains system/user software. What I am attempting to do is to create a Non-Stop backup for my D drive (data) to my Synology DS411 NAS.
I have no problem setting up the configuration in TI 2016. Works perfectly. It sees my Synology NAS and I am able to navigate in the NAS to select the share/folder as a destination.
Here's where the problem happens. When the Non-stop backup runs, it abnormally terminates. If I use Windows File Explorer after the failure, I get an error message that it can't access the folder. If I reboot, the D drive (Data) is no longer present. When I reboot again, the system does not boot. On the third reboot, the D drive (data) returns to the list in Windows File Explorer.
I've replicated this issue a number of times. Can anyone provide me with some guidance on how to resolve this issue?
Thanks,
Joe

Joe,
The links in Steve's response apply to earlier versions of ATI. The ATI 2016 user guide clearly states "You can also use an NAS as the storage, but with one limitation - it must be accessible with the SMB protocol."
So the first thing to confirm is that you have set up your NAS with SMB protocol.
Here's some suggestions and some questions:
Download the Log File Viewer at:
https://forum.acronis.com/forum/115626
The service logs may provide some information on why ATI is terminating.
If possible, can you set up a non stop backup using an external USB drive instead of the NAS. If this runs OK then I would suspect NAS credentials as the problem.
Are you using more than one NAS login? If you are using different logins (one login for Windows Explorer and a different login for True Image), this could be causing the problem with accessing the folder.
Is Windows configured with Fast Boot ON? If fast boot is on, this could contribute to the boot problems you are having. Personally, I turn hibernate off, which disables Fast Boot.
These are all guesses. Please post the service logs which could help the MVPs analyze the problem.
