True Image 2016 and backups created with True Image 2011

Thread needs solution

I've recently upgraded from Window 7 to Windows 10 and hence upgraded from True Image 2011 to True Image 2016 which appears to recognise the backups previously created with the older product. My question is, are the formats of the backup files the same across different versions of True Image? Can TI 2016 recover backups created with TI 2011 and can TI 2016 use and append to the existing backups created using TI 2011?

TI 2016 will be able to recover and explore 2011 tib files. You will not be able to add to those files though. You will need to create a new task and new destination files.

The links below provides a listings of compatibility:

ATI 2016 can restore, mount and explore (deploy) backups created with:
Acronis True Image 2016, Acronis True Image Cloud (Release 2016)
Acronis True Image 2015
Acronis True Image 2014

Acronis True Image Home Backward Compatibility - this deals with ATI 2015; not updated for ATI 2016.

Thanks again for the very useful info. I'm surprised that TI 2016 is much more limited than 2015 in terms of which older version backups it can read and recover from.

I was surprised also; but you can always use the ATI 2015 recovery media to recover backups created by earlier version.

With TI 2016 I managed to mount a backup created with TI 2011 and browse and open files. Given the published compatibility info, I shouldn't have been able to do that?
