Gary,

I think we need more background and info to provide any assistance.  The system tray icon only shows up when a backup is running and will disappear when it's done or if it's not running.  You may have to actually set this up in windows as well.  Not knowing your OS though, I can only speculate.  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/show-all-icons-in-the-…

As for the backup not running at the scheduled time.  Are you able to click the "backup now" button and will it run then, or do you get an error of some kind.  If it runs manually, but not on schedule, is your machine sleeping/hibernating at the scheduled time?  Are your power settings set to suspend disks, usb ports, or networking in advanced power options from control panel?  In computer managment, are your disk, USB hub/ports, and/or NIC set to suspend power there as well?

Sorry about the scimpy info - I know better.

OS = Win 7   Clicking 'Backup now' only puts the backup in queue - it never executes.  Above the queue bar it says "Backing up...  25 MB"  Below the bar it says "Calulating time remaining..."  but it never moves forward.  At the top of the screen it says "Next backup" with the appropriate time stated below it.

"Network place" shows the correct path to a network storage device.  Note:  I have three licences and the other two perform as expected.  Obviously, I set up the failing machine the same way.  It seems that the initial installation did not initialize Acronis properly.  Yes, I have tried executing the setup program and choosing the Repair option with no effect.  Don't waste time on my proplem - I think I'll simply move on.

Thanks

Gary, I'd be happy to help if you want to troubleshoot.

It sounds like your backups are on a network attached storage device (NAS/SAN or another remote PC?)  If this is a mapped drive on the system, I would recommend removing the mapped drive and re-adding it with credentials again, just in case.  Then create a new backup job (don't use the same one) and point it to the network location and see how it goes.

If their is somethign wrong with the ATIH install, doing the inplace "repair" is not always successful.  I would recommend a full uninstall and cleanup using the instructions here and then try again.  I think if you do that, create a new backup job (dont' use the same name either if possible) and re-map your network share, you may have better luck.
