True Image not reading free space correctly.

Thread needs solution

Can't believe this software.

I use TI 2016 build 6027 on a Windows 10 Pro PC with a USB stick to backup my C drive.

But True Image insists that the 43GB backup job will not run even though File Explorer says it has 75GB free, yet TrueImage claims there is only 31GB free!!!

See screen shot.

What is wrong with it????

I suspect this is related to what I discussed in my current thread about deleting old versions:  Probably TI thinks you still have an old backup version that you do not. And I see no way of telling TI to DELETE that information related to a nonexistent version. I've noticed this on my machine that uses a Network Share to store images on. TI will get confused and think the backup chains occupy more disk space than they really do.  And that is because an old backup version has gotten deleted but TI has not erased that version from its Version History. And the greater problem is, I see no way to make TI delete nonexistent versions from its Version History: something seems wrong with TI 2016's programming because previous versions of TI did not have this problem.

Thanks Randy,

I've discovered a reboot made it rediscover my USB drives true capacity.

It is amazing how it appears to keep things invisible from the User. I've discovered that the way to make it forget its past is to delete and remake the backup schedule. Daft. Totally stupid.

I've also discovered on several ocassions TI soaking up my CPU cycles at 9pm at night. I've only got a backup schedule for 10am.

No help from TI support of course.

But the ultimate sillness has to be that it doesn't communicate to the user via System Event Log or Notifcation. Only via emai! Is it stuck in some kind of 1990 blackhole?

I simply can't trust it to do the C: backup day in, day out.

Give me DiscWizard any day.
