TrueImage 2016 fails with cannot find version 4
I have a scheduled backup of my C: to another local hard drive (N:) after installing TrueImage 2016 the backup fails with an error message saying it cannot find version 4? There is nothing in the knowledge base about this, or on this forum that I can find.

Just to say have same problem. An my NAS is availble. Incremental Full every 3, clean after 14.
I often got the error, while working, so I check imedialtey local LAN, all good.
I never had such with Norton, Symantec Ghost.
For the price I expect smooth operation and self healing. If not fund, start new verison.

Hi!
I am sorry that you have experienced such problems with the software.
This issue is most commonly related to errors on the storage or network issues. So, to avoid them I recommend you to regularly run Check Disk for all the drives you have, get updates to NAS firmware and run validations of the backups.

I also am experiencing the "Cannot find version 4." error.
It would seem some better error checking/handling of backup issues is called for in the application.
It's very clear this is a bug in True Image 2016 which needs to be addressed urgently. If a backup destination cannot be reached or becomes unavailable during backup, it should not corrupt the entire backup chain...the backup chain should NEVER get corrupted. If True Image needs to end a chain because of a bad backup and start a new one in order to keep integrity of backups, that would be acceptable.
I am the 3rd user reporting this as a bug. Please fix it.

Scott, the best way to share feedback is through the feedback link in the product. THis is essentially a user to user forum, with seldom frequenting Acronis employees.
Very often these problems are "soft" issues of the internal database that tracks the different versions.
To solve the cannot find version x, cancel the backup, and choose "recover files". The same error will come up. Browse and selects the 4th backup version in the chain. The first full is version 1. Some time, you will see that a file is missing, has been renamed, or has a -1 or -2 at the end. THis means that ATI has lost track of the chain correctly. If you can find the right file, the database will be correctly updated and you can continue. If not, move the backup files to another directory for safekeeping, delete the backup task and create a new one.

I got this error on 2 systems with different hardware and software equipment.
Seems to be that ATI older backups from the storage erases groundless.
I have already approached me with your support, but the Support does not seem to understand the problem.
Of course, I already have a Clean - installation made without success!
This error occurs in your software at least on since Build 6569, also in the current build 6571st
Currently I test even the build 6559th
In the build, which were published in 2015, there was this mistake not for others!
Please excuse my possibly bad English, I work here with an online translator because I speak German otherwise.

Andreas,
Please see post: https://forum.acronis.com/forum/117232#comment-359062 by Acronis Support QA Engineer Dmitry who advised:
If you're having the "Please locate the last volume..." issue when opening backups in Windows Explorer -
try deleting all the files in
C:\Users\[your_username]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database
This may help resolve the issue.

Thanks for the tip .
I Try straight out, will then show the next day if it works.
Before that, I naturally made a Clean Installation.
rather strange that the support - employees thereof have no idea !!!

Hello Acronis Management
I buy SW since 1988. Acronis True Image 2016 is worst investment I ever did.
I chose Acronis based on good experience with Partition Expert. I used for many years Ghost, without any issue.
Acronis True Image 2016 was never able to make images from my performance Windows 10, mainly connection issues, not finding backup version files, locking its own version files, hanging for hours preparing. Testing 3 different NAS over LAN.
Just gave another try today with latest uopdate, no chance. result, need to kill all processes.
Not one image in one year was properly written.
I ask for refund.
Regards
Vulg: I'm totally pissed!
