Unable to boot with the boot cd

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have the 2016 version of Acronis True Image.
I created a bootable cd but cannot boot with it.
This crashes after displaying "Acronis Loading, Please Wait".
Has anyone encountered this problem and if so how was it resolved?

Thank you for your help.

Bonjour,

Gerard, sorry but there is too little information to know why the ATI 2016 rescue media should crash when being loaded.

What type of PC is involved here? Desktop PC or Laptop ?

What version of Windows OS is installed?  Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP ?

What BIOS mode is used by the Windows OS - if you have Windows 10, 8 or 7, run the command: msinfo32 in Windows and check the BIOS mode value shown in the right panel of the report that is shown.

What build version of ATI 2016 is installed / was used to create the rescue media?
The final ATI 2016 build was #6595.

See KB 56610: Acronis True Image 2016: Creating Bootable Media - for details of the options for creating WinPE media and legacy media.

KB 59877: Acronis True Image: how to distinguish between UEFI and Legacy BIOS boot modes of Acronis Bootable Media

Hello Steve,

Indeed I did not provide much information.
Here they are:
Desktop PC, Windows 10 Professional
UEFI Bios
ATI version: 6595
The creation of the boot DVD was made according to KB56610
I made some photos of the boot process:

Attachment Size
566517-211071.jpg 286.12 KB
566517-211074.jpg 452.62 KB
566517-211077.jpg 300.59 KB
566517-211080.jpg 783.73 KB

Gerard, thanks for the further information.

Please try selecting option 2. for Acronis True Image (64-bit) instead of Acronis Universal Restore (option 1.).

I don't know why the media is not showing option 2. on a separate line below option 1 in your screen image!  I do not recall ever seeing that before!

Steve,
Thanks for your help.

I too had noticed the absence of option 2 but without understanding why.
So I restarted the system and typed 2 on the keyboard.
The order was accepted but it was no further than before.

Do you think it could come from a update (windows or ATI)?

I will try to install the Acronis 2021 trial version to see if it looks the same.

Gerard, upgrading from ATI 2016 might be the best approach due to the significant changes to both Windows 10 and also for computer hardware components, but the alternative would be to try creating the Windows PE version of the rescue media, instead of using the Linux version.

In the later versions of ATI (from 2018 onwards) the Windows PE media can be created from the Windows 10 Recovery Environment, but on earlier versions you would need to install the Windows 10 ADK and PE Kits components.

For your ATI 2016, you could create WinPE media using the MVP Custom PE Builder tool from the Recovery Environment as this was the earliest version the MVP tool supported.

See topic: MVP Tool - CUSTOM ATI WINPE BUILDER

See the link to the tool in my signature from the Acronis Community Tools KB page.

Hello Steve Smith,

I am coming back to you to give information about my problem.
I bought the ATI2021 version but am not satisfied with it (lots of problems). About that do you know how to request a refund?
Concerning the ATI2016 version, by modifying some options in the Bios of the pc I was able to make my rescue media work correctly. (I think I had to change these options before but I don't remember it very well).
I will therefore keep this ATI2016 version.
Thanks for your help and sorry for my English (I am using the Google translator).
