Unable to see USB HDD Drives

Thread needs solution

I have just upgraded a workign copy of Acronis 2014 to 2016. Now when I try to do a disk backup of an external USB hard drive it doesnt show in the available partitions list.

I can see the drive fien in Windows 10, and if I look at doing a file backup I can see the drive but it doesnt show to do a partition backup. Odd thing is this I have managed to do an image backup of the drive once, sometimes it shows and then after I reboot the PC Acronis says the drive isnt there when windows and everything else shows it is there fine and working with no errors.

I have tried different USB ports, its makes no difference. I'm using the latest build of Acronis 2016.

I dont understand why sometimes Acronis can see it in Disk and Partion Backups and yet other times cant, especially as Windows can see it 100% of the time and says there are no issues with it.

The backup was working fine in Acronis 2014 its only 2016 which has these issues.

Has anyone else ceom across this?

Thanks

Ian,

I had a similar situation which was caused by a BIOS setting.  I can't remember what the setting was but when I set it back to the original setting, the USB drives worked fine.  I will boot to BIOS and update in a couple of minutes.

Ian,

In my BIOS, there is a USB setting called USB Legacy Emulation.  If it is disabled, ATI does not see the USB drives.  If it is enabled, ATI has no problems with USB drives.
