What the heck is this red dot?

Thread needs solution

Hello fellow ATIH users.

Two computers, one upgraded to Windows 10 from windows 7, one installed Win 10 from scratch. (used to be a winXP box.) Both were running ATIH 2013 for 3 years. Purchased 3 licenses for ATIH 2016 upgrade. Had no issues installing ATIH 2016 on either pc. Did this about 2 weeks ago.

However, on the new win 10 install, the last couple of days I've noticed a red dot/circle next to the "Backup" option on the main screen. (See attached image) As far as I can tell, backups still work. I have four backup jobs listed, two of the win 10 install and two from the winXP install. Only one backup is active, as I've set the other three to "Not scheduled". I see no errors under any of the backup jobs.

Anyone seen this before? What the heck is it and how can I get rid of it?

Thanks for reading.

Brian, what build version of ATIH 2016 are you using here?  Your screen shot looks quite different to my own ATIH GUI (see attached below).

The latest build version is 6571 - you should see this on the Account page.

Do the backups with the red dots relate to a source or target drive that is no longer available on your system?

Steve,

Acronis says I'm running the lates build. See image.

On this computer, I backup to an internal hard drive. It didn't move during the Windows 10 install. I can access files/images in all four backup jobs listed. I've looked through all Options, source partitions, and target drives in all four jobs. I see nothing indicating an error or anything that would indicate something is mis-configured.

Could you post more of your screen with the red dot so we can see more of what it is saying elsewhere?  It looks like there could be more backups below as well that we're not seeing with your original screenshot.

Absolutely, Here you go.

My best guess with out the log fies is that your 3rd and 4th backups have the exact same name and may be causing a conflict.  The do have different file versions, but because they have the same name, may be conflicting in the database.  You'll also notice that the 3rd option does not have a green checkbox on it like the others do.  You can try to validate it seperately, but I suspect it may still be problematic having both instance of the same backup name in the active tasks.

Bobbo,

I was looking at the lack of the green check mark after I posted the last image. Turns out I hadn't validated this backup since installing Win10 and ATIH 2016. All four backup jobs now have a green check mark.

As for the names, those are from the same backup job. The first one is the very first full backup (from early 2014) and the second one is the last one before I switched to Win10. If you're right about the names, I wonder why the red dot wasn't there from when I first added these backups to ATIH 2016. Strange. To test that, maybe I'll move those backups to another hard drive and remove it from the computer, and ATIH 2016. That would leave only the backups made under ATIH 2016 and Win10.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Well, I tried two things.

I copied both of the old/WinXP backups onto a usb drive, disconnected the drive, and deleted the backups from the ATIH 2016 interface. Red dot still there.

Just for giggles, I tried validating the last two backups, which were made in Win 10 using ATIH 2016. Red dot still there.

The next scheduled backup is for tomorrow night. If it runs with no errors, I don't think I'm going to worry about it. But, we'll see.

Update:

My regularly scheduled backup ran last night with no issues. This morning, the red dot is gone.

Glad to hear it!
