Which files to delete?

Thread needs solution

I started a True Image Backup in early november and I see one file name with "full" in it and multiple files with "inc" in the name.  I am running out of diskspace and want to delete image files ones that are not needed.  Can I delete all "inc" files except the latest one?

Merely deleting the increment files is asking for trouble, as they are included in the Acronis XML file. There is an easy procedure to do what you want to do which is described in the user guide:

4.4.6 Deleting backups and backup versions

To configure automatic cleanup rules for a backup:
1. Go to the Backup section.
2. Perform one of the following:
 For a new backup, click Add backup, choose Create new backup, select backup source and destination, and then click Options.
For an existing backup, select the backup from the backup list, click Operations, choose Edit settings, and then click Options.
3. On the Backup scheme tab, select Custom scheme, select a backup method, and then click Turn on automatic cleanup.
4. Configure cleanup rules for the backup. Refer to Custom schemes (p. 44) for details.

No you cannot delete the files manually.  Each incremental file depends on all others in the chain of backup files to be of any use.  Consolidation features have been removed from the product beginning with the 2015 version because usage of the feature was minimal.  Retention rules within a backup scheme created by the user are relied on to perform such consolidation.

I have no idea how you congfigured the backup scheme or plan for your backup but it obviously has exceeded your available disk space.  At this point it is probably not worth the effort to attempt to change the schedule of the task to force consolidation because consolidation requires about 2 and half times the total amount of data sapce to work.  Reason is that a new full backup must be created before the previous full can be deleted.  This is a safety valve requirement in case the new full backup fails for some reason.

I would suggest complete deletion of the the entire backup, the task itself and the associated files of the backup task.  Create a new task which will not exceed the available disk space you have and just start all over.

And the same question by GNR here too...  I'm not sure why since these are both new posts.
