Why does True Image 2016 stop me shuting down my computer

Thread needs solution

Hi i am using true image 2016 and windows 10

But i have a little problem sometimes when i try and shut down my computer i get a message that says

(True Image is terminating the current operations, please wait. The computer will be turned off autamaticly in about two minutes)

Why does it do this when i have none of my backups set as a scedule backup and there are no backups running?

This is annoying this happens even if true image has not been running for days

I suspect that the application is performing one of several processes that run each time you start your computer and which ever one that is has not completed when you choose to shutdown.

The link below lists and describes these processes and services of the application.  Any of them could be at cause here.

Ok thanks for the info but why does true image run these processes in the background when i have not been using it for days. it slows my comouter down and is not need all the time

It is default behavior set to improve the user experience with the application.  If these processes do not run at startup then some features would take more time to execute.  If design is set this way then users complain about how long the app takes to start and run a feature.  It is a "no win" situation!

Well let me tell you it does not improve my experience.

I make a backup one a month and i would rather it take a few seconds more to load the application one a month when i need it to run rather take a extra two or three minutes to shut down 9 out of 10 times.

how is that improving my experiance

I won't disagrre with you.  The point is still the same however.

Ok i see your point but could Acronis make it an option for the user to choose and select on installing that way eveyone would be happy.

I only upgraded to cersion 2016 because true image 2015 nagged me every time i started my computer, and i almost deleted it and used somthing else to make my backups, but i thought i would try 2016 and see if the nagging had stopped but his is worse that ever

I have the same problem and I expect an answer from Acronis not a bunch a waffle. How do I stop Acronis from locking up my PC when I go to shut it down. This is a very simple question and I want a very simple answer.

I've use Acronis for years and I've never had a problem it till I upgraded to 2016. I have recommended Acronis to many people as an excellent backup and restore application. but if this problem is not solved I like a lot of people who have Acronis will move to another application.

I would expect an answer from direct Acronis as this is my only option as they no longer offer support unless you want to pay for it which is out of the question. In the past they always offered online support. I await their answer.

Well Said i agree entirely with you i have had true image for years now, but i have about had enough.

I am trying Macrium backup and in the time i have used it i am very impressed with it, no long CPU hogs and no locking my computer when I shut down, and just as good backup.

I will not recommend True Image to anyone unless this is sorted I would prefer true image take a little longer to boot when I need to use it rather than hog my computer resources all the time

I encourage the posters here to take advantage of the in app feedback tool or the feedback feature found on the Acronis Support site to make your positions known to the development team.  Those folks do not visit these pages often so it is unlikely they will see your posts here.  If you do use the feeback tool include reference or link to this thread and express your concerns with any other aspects of the appliction as well.  The feedback is a great tool for getting messages across.

Ok done as you advised lets see how long it taks to get a reply

I entirely agree with Edward. I don't recommend Acronis to anybody. This software is of no use to me. I just wasted my time by trying to fix a host of bugs until I got rid off this nonsense from my computer. The issue with locking the computer on shutdown is old one and the only thing it changes is a stupid warning message. Although I did not backup for days and disabled all services except Acronis Scheduler2 Service (required for manual backup) I was often not able to shut down my computer normally. In my case, 2 minutes sometimes took several hours. I don't believe this a feature that improve the user experience. The attitude of Enchantech and other Acronis people towards the customers is very rude. He offers no fix for the hang-up problem as he evidently knows very little or nothing about it. Instead, he tries to argue with the people and imposing his obviously nonsense ideas or justifications. What a terrible company Acronis is!!!

I agree i came to this forum trying to get advice and help and the advice from Enchanted was no use at all and certanly no help

One more point if you ready why i upgraded to the 2016 version was because of all the nagging from the 2015 version and now this morning i got another popup telling me of a new deal ive only had this 2016 version on my computer a few week and now i get another deal.

The best thing was the link it gave did not work

So come on Enchantech as you are a Acronis MVP you must have links with acronis give some help on how to stop this annoying problem

Hi All,

This is a work-around, not a solution.

Open Windows Firewall. Click on Advanced Settings.  Incoming Rules.

Highlight the below one at a time, then click double-click on each rule.  Dot Block the Connection. Click Apply then click on OK.

Acronis Managed Machine Service Mini and Acronis Sync Agent Service

In Services:

Double-click on each of the following: Acronis Managed Machine Service Mini . Acronis Nonstop Backup Service and finally Acronis Sync Agent Service

Change the Startup Type to Disabled. Click Apply then click OK. If any are currently running, click on Stop.

None of the changes will prevent Acronis from doing a Full Backup.

The only Service that you can't disabled, is the Acronis Scheduler2 Service

It can be stopped, but you will be nagged that it is off.

Let's make one thing perfectly clear. Acronis True Image 2015 and 2016, are not worth any money.

Why? You cannot read the Descriptions / Comments from the operating system in Acronis True Image 2015 and 2016, of existing Acronis Images. And especially the ones that were just created.

I am having the shut down problem, so far it has been hung up for about 30 minutes.

Some one please tell me how to shut the dam thing down!@!!!!!

Below is a posted response from Acronis Support about the shutdown issue.  The poster of this is: https://forum.acronis.com/user/85273

Normally the message Acronis True Image is terminating the current operations, please wait only appears if there are still some running main tasks (scheduled backup or validation). Under the normal circumstances, Acronis prevents the system from the shutdown to complete these operations and avoid data corruption. Please first of all check if the following tasks are configured:

I've never heard about network degradation upon this issue, so I would suggest to raise a support ticket for this specific case. This would require a paid support program, however if the investigation will show that the issue is in the product, we will refund these costs:

Please provide the following information and PM me the ticket number, so that I could monitor the investigation process.

  • screenshot of the backup tasks from the product interface
  • screenshot of the tasks displayed in the Scheduler Manager. Please use the command get list. Could you also inform, whether the issue occurs after task zap and creation of the new plan.
  • Acronis System Report as feedback

Thank you!
