Why exclude System volume information from a System Disk Backup?

Thread needs solution

I want to protect my computer with a System Disk Backup rather than an Entire PC Backup in order to reduce duplication.

I notice on the Options Exclusions page there are many default exclusions as default.  I can understand excluding pagefile etc. but System Volume Information surely is needed for a full operating system restore?

Is it entirely safe to accept all the default exclusions?

The application follows Microsofts default exclusions from backup when creating backup archives.  So according to Microsoft the exclusions in the list are not necessary for a backup.  Personally, I remove that entry as well as all the C:\ entries from the exclusions list prior to creating a backup.

I have only recently updated to Acronis 2016 build 6559 on 24 April

Now another update build 6569 dated 28 April with similar if not identical release notes.

After I update any programme I use ccleaner and then do a complete defrag which takes time and then back everything up which also takes time.

What I want to know is what the latest release offers the previous one does not so I can decide if all the hassle is worth it.  So can anyone please say how the 2 builds above differ?

Thanks Richard

Richard, please see my reply in your separate post created for this question: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/117800

Ditto - posted in that one what the update to 6569 fixes as well if you experience either of these, then you should update.

-Crash at console closing

-Failure to mount encrypted archive in Windows explorer
