Win 7 ATI 2016 program crash

Thread needs solution

I have been running ATI 2016 since April 2016 successfully. I recently had a backup fail due to a disk full issue. Having freed up space on the target drive ATI 2016 then failed to start with a windows "...exe has stopped working". I tried a sinmple windows un-install with no change, have since tried a revo uninstaller uninstall and re-install with no change. I have also now tried the acronis cleanup script and a re-install.

After each re-installation once the program has installed successfuly and post taking my account details from me, once the main application screen has been displayed - the program stops running after 5-10 seconds.

I dont know what to try now as I have no way to install the software or any means to recover data from my backups - my support ended at the end of April 2016 (presumably 1 month after purchase?).

Any pointers appreciated.

Mark, welcome to these user forums.

ATIH 2016 should not be affected, in terms of causing it to crash, by having a backup fail due to a disk full issue, that is a common situation for many users.

Has / did anything else change on your system at around the same time that ATIH 2016 stopped working?

In terms of being able to install the software / recover your data, you can sign in to your Acronis Account online and download both a new copy of the installation program and also an ISO image of the Acronis bootable Rescue Media (standard Linux based version) which will allow you to boot your system from CD/DVD to perform a recovery if needed.

Support for Recovery issues is available without charge as per article: 18623: How to get Technical Support: Tips, Tricks and Useful Information - see section 5 of the article.

I would recommend checking the Windows Event logs (System and Application) to see if they hold any further clues as to why ATIH is crashing on your system.  Note: You can create an Acronis System Report which will also collect the Windows Event logs, if you need help with looking at these and want to post the ASR zip file to the forum.  See screen shot below for where to find this.

Do you have a backup of your Windows 7 system from before this problem started?

I've just perfromed the install again and this time I have not signed into my account but entered the serials manually - the program hasn't crashed so far and seems to be running ok. Amazing that this makes a difference?

I'll come back to this forum if the problem repeats itslf and follow the steps you suggest.
