Windows 10 Pro Unable to access options screen

Thread needs solution

I made 2 successful (and encrypted pass worded) image backups to my USB external hard drive using the latest updated version of True Image 2016. The first image has no problems whatsoever. The 2nd image causes True Image 2016 to "hang" right after I hit options, and enter my password. The first image did the same thing initially, but a program update to True Image 2016 and a reboot solved the problem. It has now re-appeared with my 2nd image.

I need to make changes to the schedule, but I am unable to access the options menu due to this hanging problem.

Image 1 is 40 GB.
Image 2 is 1.1 TB.

I can access both images without any problems. The problem is only when I try to use options, and ONLY with the 2nd image. All other program functionality is working correctly.

I am running Windows 10 pro fully updated, on a Core i7 machine with 8 gigs of memory. This issue only causes True Image to hang, and it does not affect/crash/hang Windows in any way.

Suggestions?

one issue might be that editing a task requires that the target disk be present & accessible by TrueImage.

*EDIT*

Spoke too soon, the issue reappeared. I do think that TrueImage cannot see/read the file, even though it's valid.

I believe I found a bug and also a workaround. After I select any backup job, I now have to click on "Account" which shows I'm activated successfully, then go back to my backup job which now allows me enter the options screen.

I have to do this for every backup job I wish to change my options. If I don't click on account first, TrueImage will lock up on me. Hopefully this helps the devs

Shawn,

The option problem is not normal. You may want to uninstall and reinstall new.

I would strongly urge you to avoid making any changes (other than schedule changes) to any of your backup tasks.
The program allows changes but in my opinion, I have found that most changes never get applied correctly and the changes only delay correction.

Instead of changes, start new tasks with the correct settings and your problems will go away much faster.

Depending upon the type of backup scheme you wish to create, here is an example of each type. These can be set up for Disk image, or Partiton, or Files-folders backups. These example show how to set up automatic cleanup so the program will do the deletion after it reaches your set goal of how many chains to retain.

Editing an existing task is not recommended. Rarely does an edited task perform to user expectations. It is usually better to start with a new task using a new non-identical task name and point to a new storage sub-folder so each task has it own storage folder/sub-folder. Old task can be stopped or deleted from the task listings.
