Acronis 2017 new generation is this a joke?
Are you guys serious?
You are laying Acronis eggs like a bunch of hungry hens. TI 2017 hasn't even dried that you now have 2017 New Generation? What's next? Acronis 2017 Next Generation?
You can't even get a fully functional Acronis to term. what makes a difference between 2015, 2016, 2017. Oh yes, a new licence to purchase.
I have been with you guys for a very long time. I am going to start looking elswhere for a less money hungry software.
What a shame. :(

Well Ian, unless the term forum has changed, a forum is a bulletin board were you can ask questions, give support and yes, sometimes rant to the establishment and to other software/hardware owners either your discontent or your appreciation of the product you purchased. In this case, it's my discontent. BTW, this very site mentions ''share your feedback and ideas.''
I paid many times over for this product and this forum gives me the right to vent my frustrations as much as my approval of Acronis products. My words are not offensive but colorful enough to what I hope will more than raise eye browses.

Definitely NOT offensive. Did not suggest that the post was offensive. You are always welcome to ask questions, particularly when things are unclear. I was merely trying to do two things;
- explain that this forum is not a mechanism (primarily?) directed to making contact with Acronis
- make clear exactly what is happening with the release of the ATI 2017 New Generation
I must say I was completely confused about what was happening. I had to ask several questions of my contacts at Acronis to get a reliable understanding of what was going on. And from other post I can see I am not in the minority in my (initial) confusion.

You're free to basically write whatever you want, but your comment to "you" sounds like it is intended for Acronis, not "me" or the other forum members. I think that was Ian's point. Feel free to rant all you want if it makes you feel better though. Your thoughts to Acronis would be best directed to them directly by contacting customer support or submitting in-app feedback.

Yes, that was what I was trying to achieve. We all do our share of ranting and raving ... sometimes True Image does not do what we want it to.

The Joke is on us, because this new Generation Acronis adds to the programs which already slow your computer down and God help us when they start fighting for which one has the most rights to control what goes on in the computer.

Bobbo, I'm sure that you'll understand that the reason I wrote 'YOU' is yes, your right, aimed at Acronis. Writing it here grabs a lot more attention than calling customer support and talking with a third line support technician that can only read KB articles to trouble shoot software issues and has no power in solving this kind of grievance.
After being 7 years a Microsoft MVP I am fully aware and hopeful that posting here will grab some attention.

In 1998, when I was studying for my first Microsoft certification, an instructor gave me some great advice which I (thankfully) remembered when I got the email offering the free upgrade to New Generation. He said:
"Never buy version 1.1 of any software"
I will wait till the dust settles.

See http://www.acronis.com/en-us/homecomputing/thanks/acronis-true-image-2017-premium/ for the download page which offers both the Standard and Premium versions for download.
In terms of 'ranting' in these forums - fine, go for it but don't hold your breath if you are expecting Acronis to read and respond to what you post.
The Feedback app in the GUI or the Feedback web page would be more effective, even if these too are 'firing into the dark' with no guaranteed response.
If you really feel very strongly, then fire off a PM to one of the actual Acronis employees whose names appear in the forum - check their profile to see what role they have.
The rest of us here in the forums are just users, including us MVP's.

Then don't install it. You are not forced to take New Generation. As I understand it, there are now two products: the regular ATI 2017, and the ATI 2017 New Generation. New Generation includes the new features, while the regular ATI 2017 does not.
And, as other MVPs have pointed out, Acronis staff are unlikely to see your post here. If you want to send them a message, use one of the Acronis feedback channels or PM a staff member on the forum.

Steve, if you and three other MVP's spotted my comments, I'm pretty sure that my message got through. Now as for will it do anything, I'll take your advice and won't hold my breath. :)

Amazing Observation, unfortunately I already had ATI 2017 and was having the problem with it, AMAZINGLY, someone at Acronis seen my complaint and sent me an upgrade..for $10. for ATI 2017 NG that included the "Ransomware protection" which has effectively ...so far... eliminated the date changing forward and hopefully has eliminated hackers from coming inthe backdoor hole which ATI 2017 and previous products had built in.
So at this point, on my i7-6700K computer I have no new complaints because it usually makes mince meat of slow programs, on my old AMD model A, I think I am going to try an SSD and a new install to see if I can increase my speed.
""My Thanks go out to the person(s) who sent me info to get the upgrade from ATI 2017 to same with NG""
I wasn't exciting about having to upgrade due to a fault already within Acronis TI 2017 but for $2.00 a machine no complaints, for those who might consider that Acronis did not already have the issue, I think the NG upgrade speaks for itself as to why it was needed.

My Acronis upgrade cost me $10.00 for the upgrade to NG, as far as I know I already had Aconis premium for 5 computers which I had just upgraded to a month earlier for $19.95 so I'm not complaining but I would like my money back ...If your an Aconis Staff. Otherwize, I am hoping for Acronis to get their crap together and get rid of these little issues which are such a pain... such as not being able to delete some back-ups, figuring the time needed to create a back-up, the 4 or so second pause in the GUI showing up on screen.
