Acronis 2017 New Generation - Trial version issue

Blueder, sorry but I do not understand what issue you are saying about here?

All the Acronis bootable Rescue Media is capable of performing Backups, Recovery, Cloning plus other functions, though there are some limitations when using Trial version media as documented in KB 2768: Trial Version Limitations of Acronis Products

Blueder, if you definitely have Trial media and this is offering you the option to Backup when the KB document says that only Restore should be offered, you should open a Support Case with Acronis Support and refer them to this forum topic.

Hello Blueder,

When you boot from a trial bootable media, you can click Backup, you can open the backup wizard, select backup source and destination, set the options, but when you attempt to actually run the backup, you will see an informational window, notifying you about Trial version limitation.

Trial version limitation apply only when the media is created from Acronis True Image running in Windows in Trial mode. If you have Acronis True Image 2017 in Trial mode in Windows, and boot the computer from a bootable media, created from an activated previous version (2016 or earlier), it will allow you to create the backup. The Trial limitation from Windows version will not be applied in such case.

Thank you for your concern and your post anyways.

Regards,

Slava

Slava, thanks for clarifying this issue for trial versions and functions offered - always something new to learn here!

But, I can do it now. :-)

I can backup using 2017 New Generation's trial bootable media.
Have you checked the Trial version that is currently available for download?

Blueder, can you post any screen shots from your Trial version showing that it is behaving in a way that is different to how it is documented to do, also showing the version / build information.

Do you have the ATIH 2017 NG software installed on your computer, what does it show on the Account page in terms of any activation status?  A screen shot of this page would also be useful.

1. Download free trial
2. Update (from 2017 build.5555)
3. Account screen
4. Create bootable media (on Trial mode)
5. I can backup
6. Backup operation succeeded
7. Perhaps this media is the full version?

Blueder, your screen shots seem to tell the whole story as you have been saying all along, so not anything else I can say here.

Slava, this is something that your team needs to investigate unless something is changing with Trial media for the ATIH 2017 New Generation product that is now allowing full function in the Standard Rescue Media created from within the Trial product.

Yes, your media is the full version - it would normally say trial in the version.

I downloaded the trial, installed on a fresh VM that had never had Acronis installed on it before, created an iso and a flash drive and when booted, both show up as a trial with limited functionalityh and do show trial in the info.

You may have clicked on the trial, but were you logged into your account or something where you may have been given an upgrade which resulted in an actual version, or are logged into your accoutn in the app already where it would have registgered already?

All versions are a trial that you download until you enter a license key or are logged into Acronis with your account information.  That's my only guess - otherwise, good for you, but it seems to be working as expected for a trial when I tested it.

Rob, thanks for your testing of this issue and for the screen shot showing how the Rescue Media looks when it is the trial version!  There is a definite difference between your capture.jpg and Blueder's 07.png for the same Rescue Media license panel.
