Acronis 2017 not following instructions for backup method

Thread needs solution

Hello,

Previously I had a problem with Acronis wanting to do full backups *more often* than I specified.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the problem and that problem went away. For reference (looong, not really relevant except it notes all the steps I have already gone through in terms of reinstalling, reinstating backup schedules etc) I tried to put a link to the previous thread, but the system said I cannot put links in a message.  Here is the text of the topic link.

"How-get-ti-do-missed-differential-backup-instead-starting-over"

However now, I have the opposite problem.  It will do ONLY differentials.

This setting:

Produces this result (no full backup after 9 differentials, so far):

I generated a system report and put a link to the zip file in this post and got an error message saying that links were not permitted.

Any suggestions?

Thank you, Alan

Forum bug means you cannot add attachments to the first post; you have to Save then edit the post. Growl. .. Got it wrong again, you were trying to link to the zip file on something like DropBox or One Drive. The ability to post links has been disabled following a spate of links to malicious videos. I keep on forgetting that linking is not possible - like the moderator, volunteer MVPs can post links - they know where we live so ....

Not sure what is going on. I do not use differential backup so I have no experience to build on. But clearly there is an issue somewhere. If there were a problem with either the source or target drive there would be an error message, but as I understand it you are not getting any error messages.

Hopefully someone else may be able to offer a solution.

Ian

Hello Alan,

I'd make sure, all Acronis executable and configuration files are whitelisted in the antivirus . If the antivirus checks prevent the internal product's metadata from updating, this might be causing such kind of issues. Here we gathered instructions for different antivirus software https://kb.acronis.com/content/46430

@IanL-S, thank you for the explanation re: the links.  Hopefully my problem is sufficiently clear from the screenshots which still seem to be allowed, for someone to help....

@Ekaterina - Thank you for the suggestion.  I checked my antivirus and there are no records in the antivirus showing that the program has been blocked, so I have some doubt that that was the problem.  When it blocks something, it usually tells you so in the log.... Anyway, TrueImageHomeService.exe was already whitelisted.  I went ahead and whitelisted all the folders in the link you provided and we will see on Monday if there is still a problem.

Thank you, Alan

Hello Alan,

looking forward to hearing from you! It might be also helpful to start a new backup chain after whitelisting (create a new plan or slightly change settings in the existing one and save to update the config script)
