Acronis Background Processes and Start-Up-Programs Confusion!?!

Thread needs solution

Hey,

I recently downloaded Acronis to backup my entire machine for safety.

I like to keep my System very clean and minimalistic and am very picky about what runs in the background and what starts up etc. pp.

I discovered an Acronis background process that was using quite a bit of CPU% (which leads to my laptop fan starting to be very loud more quickly)...

I then disabled all Acronis Start-Up options:

In my Task-Manager I still find these background processes though:

Not that their Memory-usage would bother me but I would still be interested in wether or not I can turn them off somehow because I really only want to use Acronis for a 1-time-backup and don't need any "Scheduler Service" or a "Mobile Backup Server" or a "Time Machine Server!?"...

Kind regards!

Stefan, welcome to these user forums.

Please see KB document: 56697: Acronis True Image 2016: Services and Processes - this was created for the 2016 version and is still valid for 2017 except that it doesn't show the new items which were added for 2017, i.e. Mobile Backup.

See also the MVP User Tools on Google Drive (link in my signature below) where you will find some simple batch command files that you can use to turn off / on the Acronis Services on demand.

Hey, thank you!...

It worked, however:

I downloaded the ACRONIS_STOP_EVERYTHING.bat - by just double clicking it did not work - I had to right click -> open as administrator specifically...

which means that it also did not work as described by putting it into the %appdate%/Roaming/... etc. folder while starting up after rebooting... :/

The processes where still shown in the Task Manager.

Opening it as Administrator does work; the "Scheduler Service Helper" though was left "ON" and could be seen in the Task Manager.

I then had to/could diable it manually logged on as Administrator in the "Startup" Section of the Task Manager.

So I am fine and really appreciate your help!

As an idea:

implement an explanation into the read.me on your google drive as how to start up a .bat file as administrator automatically after putting it into the /user/&appdata&/..etc. folder.

Also, I wasn't sure what the exact difference is between the STOP EVERYTHING and STOP AND AUTO DISABLE .bats are and which one suited me best; - so I ran both.

It also worked after a reboot.

Kind regards

Stefan, glad that you got the scripts to work for you.

Did you open the READ_ME!!! - Common BAT Scripts document also shown on Google Drive?  This deals with the issue of needing Administrator privileges for running or scheduling these script files.

Hello Stefan,

The issue with mobile backup services consuming CPU is going to be addressed in the next update within the next several weeks.

However, we are still unsure what could be the problem with the Scheduler, why it may be causing high CPU usage.

If you want to help us in the investigation, please follow instructions from https://kb.acronis.com/content/1859, section "Collecting logs for issues with Acronis Scheduler" and then contact us here.

Regards,

Slava
