Acronis delaying computer shutdown
Since upgrading to True Image 2017 my computer keeps refusing to shut down because Acronis is "terminating operations".
I find this extremely annoying as it is a problem I never had with all my earlier versions.
I am not technically-minded, and just want to create backups at times of my own choosing onto an external hard drive.
I never schedule backups for this reason, and I have turned off anything showing as Acronis in the "startup" tab of Task Manager.
I originally posted a similar question elsewhere, and was given advice about BAT scripts, which I have tried to understand but failed.
I am tempted to go back to my previous version of Acronis (2014). Does anybody know if this is possible please?

As for the recommended scripts from Steve in the othe forum post, you just download one and put it on your desktop. You can run it anytime you want to stop or start those services (the .bat scripts are named to tell you what they do). That's about it.
However, I believe your shutdown issue is caused by upgrading from 2014 directly to 2017. The only time I see this message since the final release of 2016 and with 2017, is when an actual backup is running and you try to shutdown while it is in progress. That would be normal behavior. If no backup is running and you're seeing this in 2017, it's from the upgrade of 2014 and a clean install should provide a much more relibable and user-friendly experience.

Following Bobbo's recommendation on an uninstall, cleanup, clean install should fix your problem.

By cleanup, use the Acronis clean-up utility - more information is here.

Tool and additional recommendations are included in my post above as well. It goes beyond what the cleanup tool recommends to really make sure you get it all.
