Acronis True Image 2017 problems from start

Thread needs solution

I had been using Acronis True Image 2015 on my 1st computer. It worked fine.

When I built a 2nd computer I bought Acronis True Image 2017 for both of them. I also planned to back up my Samsung S7 mobile using Acronis True Image 2017 on my 2nd computer.

Acronis True Image 2017 had problems from the start:

* I occasionally got backup failures when my backup disk became full. I had "automatic cleanup" set but it kept turning off by itself. I had to resort to manual cleanup when this happened.

* Mobile backup was hit and miss. As can be seen by the timeline below it stopped working altogether after the Windows 10 Spring 2018 update. Acronis True Image 2017 mobile kept getting errors when I tried to connect to the Acronis server on my 2nd computer.

I really wanted to keep my mobile device backed up. My solution was to upgrade to Acronis True Image 2018. At least my mobile backups are working again. Note that Acronis True Image 2018 after being installed deleted all backups before the last full backup with Acronis True Image 2017.

Sorry to know that you've faced issues with our software. 

> I had "automatic cleanup" set but it kept turning off by itself.  One reason I can think of would be the anti-virus software modifying Acronis internals. To put aside any impact from this kind of software we recommend adding Acronis components and executables to the white-list in your anti-virus. See the following articles for more details

Note that Acronis True Image 2018 after being installed deleted all backups before the last full backup with Acronis True Image 2017.

A simple update procedure shouldn't touch the existing backups in any way. If the issue is reproducible, I'd recommend raising a support ticket for this issue, so that our engineers can look into the situation and find the cause. Please share the ticket ID here.
