Acronis True Image 2017 Won't Start - Nothing in Event Logs

Thread needs solution

Hi - I've had Acronis True Image 2017 running on a stand-alone workstation without issue for over 3 years. When I went to change the backup drive today, I noticed that there had not been a backup in 5 weeks!  When I tried to open the program, nothing happened.  No error, nothing in the event log, nothing.  I restarted the computer, nothing.  I restarted the Acronis services, nothing.  I ran a repair install, it completed, when I went to launch the program, nothing.  This workstation is not connected to the internet so there is no anti-virus.  It runs Windows 7 64-bit, no windows updates run.  When I changed the drive 5 weeks ago, I opened the program normally and made sure it saw the new drive like I always do and it was fine.  Any ideas?  Thank you, in advance, for your help.

Anne, welcome to these public User Forums.

Given your description of the issue above, it seems very strange that ATI 2017 should suddenly stop working after being fine for over 3 years, and with no changes to the OS etc?

Has any other software been installed in the period since ATI was working normally?

Have you created the ATI 2017 rescue media (on a CD or USB stick) that you could use to make an offline backup of the computer?  This would be worth doing before making further changes.

As the repair install hasn't resolved this problem, then the next step would be to do a clean full install of ATI 2017 but this may require you to reactivate the software as it is not connected to the internet.

Initially I would suggest to try doing a normal uninstall via the Control Panel then reinstalling ATI 2017 again.  You should be using ATI 2017 build 8058 which was the final release build from Acronis which will be available to download from your Acronis Account web page.

If the same problem persists, then you would need to uninstall again, then run the Acronis Cleanup tool to remove all other residue data, before reinstalling again.  This will require you to recreate your backup tasks as all settings etc will be removed.
