Acronis Universal Restore MBR to GPT/UEFI

Thread needs solution

Sorry but I found no answer via Google and Acronis.

I want to restore my C-MBR-Disc with Win 10 on a brand new UEFI/GPT Win 10 computer.

If I restore the whole C-MBR disc Acronis Universal Restore finds no operating system on the new computer.

The restauration of the operating system of the new bought UEFI/GPT computer was no problem.

Where can I find a step by step tutorial how to migrate my OS from MBR to UEFI/GPT?

Thank you :-)

Andreas, there is no step by step tutorial for migrating your OS from MBR to UEFI/GPT other than the information provided in the ATI 2017 User Guide.

If you wish to keep your C-MBR-Disc with Win 10 as MBR partition format, then you would need that your new Windows 10 computer supports Legacy/CSM mode in the UEFI BIOS, then boot from the Acronis Rescue Media in Legacy boot mode to do the restore to the new disk drive.

If you wish to migrate your C-MBR-Disc with Win 10 from MBR to UEFI/GPT partition format, then you need to boot from the Acronis Rescue Media in UEFI boot mode to do the restore which will then perform the conversion.

With Windows 10, you may not need to use the Acronis Universal Restore tool to prepare the restored OS as this version of Windows is more flexible and capable of handling hardware changes.

Assuming that you have Windows 10 activated on both computers, for the same edition of Windows (Home / Pro etc) then activation should be no issue after migrating the OS.
