Adding existing backups to AIT 2017

Thread needs solution

Installed AIT on new PC. Connected backup drives and cannot find old backups.

Backups are Encrypted.

Tried booting on Recovery CD and refreshing backups.

Oddly, AIT found old and unsupported Outlook backups that AIT stopped supporting.

Now, if I browse for the .tib and open it it adds it.

Of coarse it asks for the encryption key, and then spends what seems like forever to open.

THERE has to be a way to "inventory" or reload these backups. Especially -- without having to re input the encryption key each time!

Help (please).

ATI 2017 creates the list of available backup tasks when it is installed (or possibly when the app is first opened - I cannot remember). If the backup drive is not connected when this happens then those backups will not be included. The recovery media does not use the backup database that is used by the Windows App, so nothing you do with the recovery media will have any impact on the tasks listed by the Windows App.

If the backup is encrypted, then you will be asked for the encryption key; this is the case when you double click on a *.tib file or when you try to open it in ATI 2017.

You will have to manually add the backup tasks. Open the ATI 2017 app and at the very bottom there is "Add backup", click on the symbol at the right side (circled in red in attached image) and this will allow you to add backups. Unfortunately you will have to manually search for the backups (*.tib files). You will need to reconfigure the backup tasks as the configuration is contained in the data base, not in the backup itself. You only need to do this is you wish to create new backups with the backup task.
