Another Fail Restore attempt.

Thread needs solution

I have a simple backup file on an external for my 2 internal 500G drives.

With a bootable 2017 USBKey I am able to run DI and select the Backup file.

DI see my 2 500G drives but ghosts them out as a destination.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have been let down so many times in the past years by DI that I have a freeware Image backup and windows just in case knowing this would happen.

Maybe I'm getting old but not sure the last time Acronis Drive Image actually worked...

Looks like I have been hit with the same problems users have had for years with Acronis.

The Destination drive now appears smaller than the original backup so unable to restore to?????

Instead of DiskMode I used partition mode and now have to figure out a solution...

My freeware and Windows image backups are older so I will have to give it a shot.

My 2 attempts today will be:

1: Just restore to bigger drive, maybe clone that to original drive.

2: Partition original drive to original sizes as Hackintosh may have re-partitioned etc.

Just an update to my solution.

By "adding" the destination disk Acronis seemed to clean the disk making it possible to specify as a destination. I stayed in partition mode and selected the un-allocated area.

All worked out in the end as I'm up and running. I should of stuck to disk mode to simplify the backup and recovery but I think Acronis also could rework the UI for a more intuitive workflow.

Glad that you have resolved the issue for this topic.  One question, what is Acronis Drive Image aka DI that you have been referring to?
