ATI 2017 Simply Stops Backing Up
I'm a long time (successful) Acronis backup user and I need help. I recently built a new computer that replaced my old one and so far I've been unable to get ATI to work successfully. I've installed/uninstalled/re-installed and I have the same symptoms. I do a nightly File Backup using the Version Chain scheme and the initial full backup doesn't complete. The first time this happened I ended ATI through the task manage and when I restarted ATI it created a full backup and completed and the nightly backups completed successfully. When it was time for the next full backup that backup failed (just like the first time) and that is when I uninstalled/reinstalled. Once again, the first execution of the full backup stopped most of the way through and that is where I am at now. The attached photo show the current state. I've always used Max compression. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Bob, how full is your F: drive? Your screen shot does not blow up well, but it looks like Acronis says 417.9 GB of 3.6 TB free. And your full backups look like they are over 400 GB.

Thanks for the prompt response Steve. Here is what is in the log and it doesn't look like much:

Bob, you have one answer shown from the log you posted:
2017-08-20 11:49:51:167 1148 W00640000: The operations have been canceled due to the system shutdown.
2017-08-20 11:50:51:174 6424 E00640000: This operation has been terminated due to time out.
In your ATIH Schedule tab settings, open the Advanced settings section of the page and check that you have the option for "Prevent the computer from going to sleep/hibernate" enabled.

Thanks and I'll make that change. In the meantime I created the same backup only with normal compression and it ran to completion. Maybe that (also) had something to do with it.

BTW, I checked the prevent sleep setting and it was already set.

Bob, can you check the Windows event logs to see if there was anything amiss at the time the operation was cancelled? I'm wondering if there was some fault with an Acronis service that caused it to fail. It sort of looks like one part of Acronis may have failed and the part running the task timed out after a minute.

There was a VSS error at 1:33 AM when the full backup was running. In addition to that there were four Acronis Scheduler errors. There was also the following error at 10:06:

I don't know what this program does, but the error was before the backup so probably not related. What about the Acronis Scheduler errors. Anything around 11:49 AM? Look for other system activity, possibly with a warning. Just trying to get an idea of what was going on besides the backup that could have affected it.

Bob, the Acronis Scheduler error is at the same time as the log entry about system shutdown.
I have been seeing a problem in the ATI 2018 Beta that causes these errors. It seems that when a backup task is being run, Acronis schedules a task to be run one time when the system is shut down. I never had the problem in ATI 2017 because I assume the task was properly deleted when the backup finished (but in ATI 2018 is left in the schedule). I have no idea what the task is because the invalid parameter is basically a complete blank command line. In your case, the backup did not finish and the scheduler service is being terminated, which should only happen due to system shutdown (or when you explicitly stop the service). When the service terminates, it tries to run that task.
So... why would it want to shut down? Could it be overheating? Since you were doing a full compression backup, I could see that causing the CPU to heat up a lot. But then, why would the shutdown not complete? Perhaps something is telling Windows not to shut down yet. I have no idea... just thinking out loud.
