ATI crashes Printer HP Deskjet 6980

Thread needs solution

starting ATI 2017 the hp Deskjet 6980 Printer is crashing. The lights for power are beginning to flickering, the Printer cannot be used and I have to disconnect it from power.

The printer is connected via WLAN with my Fritz!Box.

Annyone an idea?

Windows 10 64 bit pro, anniversary update. GData total Protection.

Uwe, this has been reported previously in the 2017 forum and was found to be caused by the same issue described in KB document: 58630: Acronis True Image 2017: Internet Connection Lost At Acronis True Image Startup

The other user found that just blocking C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\True Image\TrueImage.exe for outbound UDP ports 1900 and 5553 stopped this printer crash.

See post: 125135: Start True Image 2017 and HP C309a Printer crashes

Uwe, I would recommend opening an Acronis support ticket and referencing this post.

Were you able to add the firewall rule in your Gdata Total Protection product?

Does the printer still crash if you block the TrueImage.exe completely on all outbound ports?

Hallo Steve,

Ticket is opened.

Adding firewall rules in Gdata is easy, becaus I use this progamm for years.

The printer is still crashing blocking trueimage.exe completeley on all outbound ports.

I saw in Windows Event Viewer an error that must be related to this problem. The apple bonjour service is telling that

EVENT ID 100: Client application registered 2 identical instances of service DRl+tzINqE06OSaqdq6FPw==._http._tcp.local. port 58082

I don´t understand this message, but never seen this with Acronis True Image 2016.

Uwe,

The message: EVENT ID 100: Client application registered 2 identical instances of service DRl+tzINqE06OSaqdq6FPw==._http._tcp.local. port 58082,  is a warning that 2 identical services with different names have been detected.  This should not be an issue which causes your printer to crash however.

Have you tried uninstalling the printer, restart the machine and then re-install the printer?  This may clear out the possibility of a conflict of devices and fix your problem.

Hello Enchantech,

Yes, I have deleted the printer an installed it new. No change.

Connecting it to usb - the same: No Change.

When you uninstalled the printer did you simply remove it from view in Windows File Manager or did you use Windows Device Manager to uninstall it?  Using Device Manager would be the proper way and would also allow you to remove the driver files which you should do as well.  Then reinstall and have on hand the latest drivers for the printer available which would be available on the HP support site.

I have used windows file manager. Restarted the pc.

The printer is using drivers from microsoft update pages because it is an older one.

I used the printer for many years. It was ATI2017 causing the problems.

Hmm, I think we had something similar with one of the working printers. Sometimes the program crashes due to an error with cartridges. Because of this, the whole program does not work correctly. You need to change them in a timely manner. Usually I order several at once here https://www.mrdepot.ca/products/brother-dcp-7040-toner so that the office never has any problems with this.

Dave,Very excellent assistance! Despite the fact that I had just replaced all of the ink cartridges, my HP 6978 printer suddenly displayed "all ink cartridges empty." I followed your instructions and voilà! There are no error notifications now that all four cartridge levels are full. However, I only get partial prints, and the only authentic HP cartridge I have, the black 902, does not print at all. Smart Ink is used in all three color cartridges, and they only print partially. I tried turning off the printer, unplugging it for 30 seconds, and then turning it back on, but nothing worked. There was no difference when I re-ran the downgrading program. Do you have any suggestions for how to resolve this?
