Automatically delete old backup before saving new one

Thread needs solution

I have limited backup space. Therefore I want to delete the old backup automatically before saving a new one.

Usually True Image produces a new backup first and than deletes the old one. This creates a problem because I do't have enough disk space for a (temporary) double backup.

I know there is a small risk things could go wrong but I keep regular external backups for this reason.

Help will be appreciated

JLN, welcome to these user forums.

You can do what you are asking but will need to accept the risks that this brings, i.e. that you will have a short time when you have no backups on the storage drive until the new one has been created successfully.

Please see the attached PDF document showing how to use a Pre-Command to delete your old backup file(s) - you will need to modify this to have it work for your specific situation, drive letter etc.

Steve,

I am aware of the risk involved , I make automatic internal backups on a weekly basis and beside this external backups once a month.

Thanks for your help. I will try the (modified)batch file solution you gave me.

That is fine, multiple backups to different locations is always to be recommended.  Good luck with using the batch file.
