Back-Up to cloud doesn't resumed

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I'm having a problem with the cloud, I've reported about it a lot but no real solution was offered.

When I try to back-up to the cloud big files (4gb), when ever I pause the task (I've to close my laptop), restarts it again, it always starts from the scratch although no change has been done to the files.

Four days ago I had to pause the upload, it stopped on 40%, but next day when I've restarted it, it didn't resume from the last time but started from 30%, yesterday it started from 25%.

When ever I log out, re-log in again, it starts from 20%.

That matter is REALLY frustrating.

Anyone knows what's the problem..?! Or should I try another cloud service..?!

The attached photo is for current running task, it shows that it reached 1gb, although before I sign out it was 1.39gb  four days ago it was 2gb.

Mohammed, welcome to these User Forums.

Please open a Support Case direct with Acronis Support for this Cloud issue as they will be best placed to advise on uploading such large files of 4GB in size.

If you are able to split these very large files into smaller segments and back these up separately, this might help with this issue.

Out of interest, what are these very large files you are wanting to backup to the Cloud?
What is your upload speed that you are able to achieve to the Cloud?

Hello Steve;

Thanks for your quick reply.

Actually they're just two .rar files (about 3gb total), while the other files are just "Portable Mozilla" files.

I use portable browser because I'm doing M.Phil research requires me to hold a copy of my browser for quick reference.

Mohammed, thank you for the additional information.

I would still recommend splitting these .RAR files into smaller sizes to make the upload process more reliable and easy.

One free utility for doing is is HJ-Split for Windows which is a very small (200Kb) program that does not need to be installed and can split any input file into multiple segments of your own specified size, plus can obviously rejoin those segments when needed.

I would say that it would be worth at least trying this approach as it should make the Cloud backup pause and resume better, given that you are dealing with smaller file sizes, therefore more of those smaller files should be completely transferred and not need to be rescanned and transmitted.

Hi Steve;

I've moved the two .rar files outside the folder & task was completed successfully which proves your theory.

So the question now is how I can't upload large files to the cloud..?! Where is the problem..?! How can be fixed without splitting the file.

Mohammed, you would need to open a Support Case directly with Acronis to get an answer to why uploading large files is a problem, but I suspect that this is why they do not allow .TIB files to be uploaded to the cloud by default, again because of the sizes that can be involved.
