BackingUp up Acer Predator Helios 300

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

I purchased an Acer Predator Helios 300 and I wish to back it up. I've gathered the best route to accomplish this is via the Advanced ATI Pe Builder since it appears to have all the required drivers.

The above laptop comes with an Intel m.2 NVME SSD drive with Optane. I don't know much about this particular hardware and I would like to learn more as to how to make a reliable backup.

Furthermore, I'm thinking of getting a Samsung 970 EVO m.2 NVME to replace the above Intel unit. Again, I'm completely ignorant about how to do this since I've never encountered this situation before. How would I go about cloning the old OS (Windows 10 64 bit Home) to the Samsung drive?

The Intel Optane drive's BIOS settings specify RAID as the interface and I think perhaps the Samsung 970 EVO m.2 NVME could need to have its interface set as AHCI.

I thank you for your input and look forward to it!

Frank, welcome to these public User Forums.

Your Acer Predator Helios 300 is essentially just a gaming laptop and you can back it up using Acronis True Image 2020 in order to protect both your investment in the computer and your data stored on it.

You will need to either purchase a copy of ATI 2020 or else take out a 30-day trial copy of the same.

Backups of the Windows 10 OS can be performed from within the installed ATI 2020 application using a GUI interface but should be stored on an external USB 3.1 backup drive or other locations.  Backups can also be scheduled to be created as appropriate, i.e. daily, weekly, etc.

Most modern NVMe M.2 SSD drives tend to use RAID as the SATA controller mode for enhanced performance, and this would apply equally to your current Intel M.2 and any proposed Samsung 970 EVO M.2 drive.

I recently upgraded my own HP Omen gaming laptop from a 128GB Liteon NVMe M.2 SSD to a new Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB NVMe M.2 SSD and documented the steps I followed in this forum topic here (including screen images).

I recently buy Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop, Intel i7-10750H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB from mylaptopguide acer gaming laptop's page.

I want to use Acronis True Image 2020 for this one. But I have no idea about this software.

Any help?

Thanks in advance.

Emma, welcome to these public User Forums.

I would recommend reading through the first few sections of the ATI 2020 User Guide which will give you a good introduction to how to use the application.
