Backup to CD or DVD: CD / DVD not recognized

Thread needs solution

Backup to an empty CD -R is not possible (also to an empty DVD +R)

The empty CD / DVD  is not recognized by Acronis True Image. Error message "Last backup has failed. Fault in opening file"

The same problem is after creating a new backup.

Backup to an external USB-HD or USB-Stick works.

Could be a bad CD burn, bad CD, something else.  Have you gone into the advanced tab and changed the backup .tib size to CD 650 or CD 700 first to make sure your backup files fit on the disc (see screenshot)?

I've seen other people have burning directly to disc because of cached files waiting to be written by Windows already too.

Could you not backup to a local space with the set size of 650Mb or 700Mb and then burn those to CD and see if that works too?

I'm sure you have your reasons, but I would avoid using CD's, DVD's or even Blu-rays for direct backusp and instead, create them on a USB or internal drive and then use CD burning software to copy those there as a secondary backup of your original backu files.

Otherwise, reach out to tech support and open a support case to see if they can help identify why a direct burn may not be workig if you've already set the size in the advanced options and don't have other Windows cached files waiting to be burned that are preventing Acronis from being able to write to disc while the cached files are blocking the queue.
