Backup Failed - Specified file does not exist

Thread needs solution

Have been using Acronis backup to an external hard disk succesfully for about 3/4th year.

Today I have been getting an error message stating:

"The last backup has failed.

The specified file does not exist:  L:\c:Drive Backup - Full to Incremental - full b4_s1_v1.tib.

Check for a Solution"

But there are no solutions listed on the Acronis web page. Checking the files on the external drive, the error message is correct - there is no file with that description although there are other "full" & incremental backup files including one from a week ago.

What should I do?  Do I have to erase all the backups on the external drive and start from the beginning?

thanks in advance

Jack

Jack, welcome to these user forums.

Please download the MVP Log Viewer tool (link in my signature) and use this to check for any further messages in the log for this backup task to your external drive.

One possibility is that the drive has been given a different letter to that used in your backup task, i.e. the message is looking for the missing file on L:\ - so check that the external drive is showing on that drive letter?  Drive letters can change due to plugging in USB memory sticks etc.
