Backup files not recognised

Thread needs solution

I backup my data files to a separate drive on a different disk with a reserve copy on yet another disk. All backups have proceeded successfully with a full backup plus seven increments on the main backup and full backups on the reserve disk. I now need to check the data from one of the backups but when I select the backup files Acronis tells me that the files have either been moved or deleted. Neither is the case as I can see them with Windows Explorer. Can anyone suggest a solution?

To be sure, you haven't manually moved any .tib files and/or the drive letter hasn't changed somewhere in the process (or you haven't switched to another backup drive, but still use the same letter?  - needs to be exactly the same drive and letter as the backup was originally created for or it messes up the location). If they have changed, "validate" the backup and be sure to point the missing backup files to the new location for each .tib file as it requests them.

Otherwise, assuming those have not changed, try one of these which normally does the trick...

1) Navigate to the actual backup .tib file in Windows explorer and double click on it, does it open and allow you to navigate - if so, use that method.

2) If not, if may be a bad tib mount cache.  Clear the cache, reboot and try to double click again using the same method as #1.  The file is a hidden file/folder so enable hidden files/folders first.  If it doesn't let you delete, it's because it's currently in use for trying to access it, reboot and do this before trying ot view a backup, delete, reboot and try again.
