Backup image fails on new W10 Laptop

Thread needs solution

New HP laptop UsesUEFI AND GPT DISK

Try full computer backup or just C drive

Get messages that backup corrupted but still can try to recover some files.

This takes HOURS AND CREATES MULTIPLE FILES EVEN ON FIRST ATTEMPT.

W image backup creation takes only 15 minutes. Why did I waste my time on this software?

ACRONIS 2017 and works fine on older computer with W10 MBR system,,,

Where is the backup location, and how is it connected to the laptop?

Is this a full backup, differential or incremental?

What is "W image backup creation"?

"Corrupted" is, unfortunately, a rather non-specific error message, in spite of its rather specific sounding term. It really just means that ATI can't validate the archive, which can be caused by disk errors or connection errors, rather than any problems with the .tib file itself.

Validation failure is often due to hardware issues. To troubleshoot, see Grover's backup and restore guides http://forum.acronis.com/forum/29618 and http://kb.acronis.com/content/1517

From an administrative command prompt, run chkdsk /r on each partition of the internal drive, and on the external HD. If there are hidden partitions, assign letters to them so you can chkdsk.
Also run a drive checking utility from the drive manufacturer, as those sometimes catch errors missed by chkdsk.

Don't connect via a hub, a port in a monitor, or a USB extension cord, etc. Connect the external drive directly to a USB port on the rear of the computer case.

Gilbert,

Can you provide more details?  Model of laptop?  Does laptop have an HDD or SSD?  If SSD is that drive an NVMe drive?  What is the exact error message you recieve?  What is the destination location for the backup being created?  Is that location an FTP server?  Did you install the application on this machine while logged into Windows with an Administrator account?  Was this a first  time install of True Image 2017 or did you upgrade from a previous version of the application?
