Backup incomplete - any chance to read

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

I had a PC issue yesterday, where a disk failed and the computer was shutting down thereafter. This was dring a running backup. I now have a few TB on a new backup but can't access as it says "Backup is incomplete due to computer shutdown.

Is there any chance to still read the data in that backup as the last accessible backup is 2 weeks old.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Philipp, welcome to these public User Forums.

Unfortunately it is highly unlikely that you will be able to recover anything from your interrupted, incomplete backup image file.

The only option that may be worth trying is to open the location where the file is in Explorer then double-click on it to see if it will open and let you browse any of the contents?  If you can browse the contents, then try using Copy & Paste to grab any files / folders that you need.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your response and input. It is as you expected; they archive cannot be opened. It terminates with an error message.

I have now purchased True Image 2020. Can I open older archives written with TI 2016 then?

Yes, ATI 2020 can open most of the older archives as documented in Backup Archive Compatibility document.

You should uninstall ATI 2016 before installing ATI 2020; apparently installing ATI 2020 over older versions is only recommended if it is ATI 2019 or 2018.
