Backup Shared Folders

Thread needs solution

Hello,

i have installed Acronsi 2017 and i try to do a Backup in a Shared Folder. I have set the permissions as needed.

Acronis only says ' it is not allowed to write'

I try then to copy files in to the shared folder and this is working

Any ideas what the problem can be ?

Regards and thanks

Hello Hans-Peter,

If you have clicked "Standard" when asked which version of Acronis True Image 2017 to download, then the backup failure must have been caused by one known issue which is fixed in the Premium version (build 6116), but still persists in the Standard version (build 5554). You can check the build number under Account tab.

If you see the number 5554, then I recommend you uninstalling it and download the build 6116 (for that, choose "Premium" when asked). The fix for the Standard version is expected within several weeks.

Then, if you try the version 6116 or if you already had it from the beginning, and the issue still persists, you can verify that Acronis True Image has remembered the credentials correctly. For that, select your backup task, click on the destination, select the top-level share in the folder tree, e.g. \\server\public and click Edit credentials. See if the user name is correct and re-type the password. Save changes and run the backup task.

If the issue persists, you can contact Support Team to get further asisstance on the matter.

Regards,

Slava

Please be advised that 6116 premium version is a subscription and this should be made clear for all users who are offered the option to install 6116 as a free update.  If you currently have a perpetual license and do not intend to move to a subsciprtion, do not install 6116 and instead, wait for the standard update.  The Premium features of Acronis NG are "free" as an upgrade this time, but will cost more than the standard version next year when it comes time to renew.

I do not know if there is a downgrade path from premium to standard (but hope there is).  Even so, storage space would also be reduced so that's something else to keep in mind.
