Can Acronis True Image backup a Network Drive?

Thread needs solution

Hi guys,

I'm wondering if it is possible for Acronis to backup a Network Storage drive?

I have a main PC and a media server with network drives. If I install True image on my main PC, can it backup the drives of my media server and store the backup on another network external hard disk?

Thank in advance for the info.

Yes you can.  Select Add backup and choose a Files and Folders backup.  Select you source location and destination location then backjup now. Done!

EDIT: It will appear that the backup operation when setup this way is not working as what you will see is a Calculating time remaining message on the GUI screen.  You will notice however that your device drive indicator lights are flashing so the backup is taking place.  Just be patient and when the backup nears completion that will change and indicate something like 1 minute left and then the backup will complete.

Plus, you wouldn't backup a media server using Acronis. Media server files are typcially video, music, photo files. These files are already compressed so using a compressed archive container to back them up is a loss of time. Additionally, they don't change much (unless you are a video editor or photographer...). So simply copying the files for backup should be enough. If you want more advanced capabilities, consider using a sync tool like the baked in Win8-10 file history, GoodSync, or SyncBack
